FoP and Slinky Dog fast passes

Last minute trip with kids to Disney with kids (aged 10 and 8) and therefore was not able to get FP for FoP and Slinky Dog which really are the reasons why we are choosing these 2 parks for our 2 Disney days. I understand we can check for day of FP- but if we have another Tier 1 FP booked, we won't be able to select one of these if they come up- is that correct? We have also never been on Navi River ride either (and would like to go on as well) There are some FPs available for Navi at the end of the day. Should I not select it if I hope to get a FoP FP close to or day of? How do you tell from the website if a ride is Tier 1? I couldn't find instructions re only allow 1 Tier 1 etc... At HS I selected Toy Story Mania- will that still allow me to select Slinky Dog should it come up? Really hoping to check out these rides on this trip but hoping to find a strategy that will minimize wait time. Thanks!

No, it isn’t.

Modify the Tier 1 FP that you’ve booked and another Tier 1 will show up if available.

1.How do you tell from the website if a ride is Tier 1? When you are booking FPS, MDE will automatically put them in tiers. Once you havea Tier 1, it will say no more in that category. EPCOT and HS are the only tiered parks so far.
2. At HS I selected Toy Story Mania- will that still allow me to select Slinky Dog should it come up? Yes, if you go i MDE and try to modify your Tier 1 FP, it will show you what other options are available.

We have had success riding FoP and SDD close to closing hour. If yo uare in line when the park closes, you will get to ride the attraction.

Tier 1 exists in Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. In Epcot, tier 1 is Soarin', Test Track, Frozen, and I think the firework show (although I do NOT recommend this as a Fastpass because then you won't get any extra FPs). In Hollywood Studios, it's Toy Story Land, Tower of Terror, and Rock n Roller Coaster (Millenium Falcon doesn't even have Fastpass yet). In Animal Kingdom, it's Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey. You can see what tier 1 FPs are available if you modify the one you already have. So if you already have a tier 1 Fastpass booked at Animal Kingdom for Navi, when you look for a new FP, it's not going to show you FP availability for FOP because you already have a tier 1 FP. But if you try to modify the Navi, since FOP would be replacing it, it will show you the times.

And don't give up on getting FOP. I understand you probably want to have the peace of mind knowing you have FOP and I was in that same spot a week ago. Our AK day was this last Friday and I had refreshed and refreshed trying to get FOP FP. It wasn't working but then after just a few minutes of refreshing on the day of, I did get FOP for one ticket and then I refreshed a few more minutes and got FOP on the other ticket. I would also go at park opening and closing regardless of whether or not you got a Fastpass.
