Footwear Question

I have worn my Sketchers GoWalks with low moisture wicking socks on my last 2 Disney trips and love them. I wear them with shorts or dresses, because a happy foot is a happy trip. I closed down the MK EMH until 3am this April and my feet weren't even sore! My legs were tired, but my feet were fine.

I have a question:

No matter what I do, what I wear, whether I swap shoes, wear socks, wear them in first, take regular breaks- my feet are always killing me by the end of the day.

I've decided there is nothing I can do to prevent this so I ask you good people for a cure.

What do you guys do so soothe your feet when you get back to your room?

Some people have suggested deep heat or deep freeze but I just wanted some tips or sorting it out once it's happened really!

Thank you in advance!

:)

Practice going on hikes around the park often and around the mall etc. to get used to walking longer distances and your feet should hopefully build up more resilience. At the very least you'll be more used to the far distances.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply :)

I do walk quite a bit before we go away but that has never seemed to work for me.

Hopefully someone has a miracle cure haha!

No problem! Sorry I couldn't help more. I have a feeling I'll be struggling with this as well

My feet always kill me regardless of what I do. I start taking Advil or Aleve at bedtime from day 1. Even if my feet aren't killing me yet I feel like this helps ward off any issue. I also try to go and stick my feet in the hot tub for at least 10 minutes no matter how tired I am. We also always take a mid day break and go swimming. This helps me a lot, not just taking the break but the actual swimming helps stretch the muscles out. I also use Bandaid Blister Block religiously.

I just read something about speeding up recovery for runners that may help. It said to soak in cool or cold water then elevate then soak again.

I run, and it's a common practice amongst runners to use a tennis ball for massage after strenuous runs.

I would think the Advil or Aleve would help to, since they are anti-inflammatory.

Even though I run, my feet still get really sore when I'm on them for long stretches. I'm going to try all of these on my trip in September.

My feet were always quite sore at the end of the day. Bernie Mev shoes completely solved that problem. I was very surprised. I think it is because they are so lightweight that your feet aren't having to drag around extra shoe weight all day. We don't take afternoon breaks. I've worn them on my last several trips, and I can now do a 12 or 13 hour day without my feet even feeling sore at the end of the day. Absolutely unheard of before. I totally swear by those shoes now! My feet would be killing me every night when we did our 12 hour days. Now they are absolutely fine. I didn't even think it was possible not to have worn out tired feet at the end of the day. If you try the Bernie Mevs, you don't want to wear them for the 1st time for a full day at the parks. You want to wear them once for 2 or 3 hours to break them in first. That will stretch them to fit your feet, and after that first 2 or 3 hours, they will be broken in and wonderful. If you wear them more than 3 or 4 hours, the first time you wear them, they might start to hurt on the top of your foot where they are stretching out to fit your right. I can do 2 or 3 hours when they are new and not feel them, and then the next day they are ready to be worn for 12 or 13 hours no problem. They have a bunch of different styles. I like the Comfi for open toe and the Cuddly or Charm for closed toe in the parks. They come in all different colors. They have a new Sandal this year called the Cindy- I bought some silver ones, but I haven't taken them out of the box and worn them yet.

Before Bernie Mevs, I would take an Advil when I got back to the room and I always take a shower, but sometimes, I would sit on the edge of the tub and soak my feet in cool water a while too. If blisters are an issue or spots where shoes rub, Body Glide is the miracle that takes care of that. I'm very blister prone and not having a blister at WDW was unhead of for me. Now that I use body glide in the morning before heading out to the parks, I haven't had a blister at WDW or DL in years. I also always blistered when I got a new pair of shoes- now I use body glide and that doesn't happen anymore.

I have a herniated disc L4 / L5. My feet and back are always bothering me. I found this store "The Walking Company" - Abeo is the brand name of shoes I wear from them. They are amazing! I suggest the style Huntington and Dara Bio. A little pricey, but well worth every penny! :)

Question for the thread! I'm looking at Sketchers Go Walks for my DWD trip and I'm wondering....laces or no? I didn't look at the women's shoes section so I don't know if all of ya'alls have laces or not, but what are your thoughts on laces v. slip-ons? The Male Coast ones look pretty darn comfy. :hippie:

I feel your pain! I had surgery on my right foot and nothing seems to help. I have heard people say Teva's are good. I am trying them for my up coming trip. I've been wearing them everywhere the last week and they seem pretty good. Good luck!!

I have two favorite kinds of shoes that I bring to Disney. I have two pair of Merrils, one black and one brown. They are so comfortable! I also have 2 pair of Sketchers Go Walk. Both are cute enough to wear with skirts and dresses, but also look good with shorts. The Sketchers are my favorite. They are so lightweight and honestly feel like you are walking on air. They come in several cute colors, too.

Hi, thanks for the great advise. I have go walks too, but was worringabout how they would stand up to WDW vacation? Also do you wear socks with them. I know that sounds like a silly question, but I don't wear socks with them at home and was just wondering what you have tried??? thanks again:):)
