Hail Tom Landry
Full of Grace
Remember us players now and at the two minute warning
Give hands that are sticky, so that we may recieve the pass and not fumble
Give us strength against our enemies, so that we might defeat them and show the glory of thy mighty silver Star
Give us today our daily touchdowns
Lead us not into temptation, for we are sorely afflicted with Terrell Owens and do not need any more problems
Free us from the clutches of the horrible Jerry Jones that we might play in peace
In Thy Name I pray,
First Down!

What exactly does Boomer Sooner mean? DH (who is from OKC) tried to explain it to me once and I didn't get it.

We're the University of Oklahoma Sooners. In the 1800s, Oklahoma was known as "Indian Territory." When the federal government decided to open it for settlement by "white settlers" there was a land run. One stake was placed on each 160 acre tract. The first person to claim a stake "won" the 160 acres that the stake was located on.

The settlers hoping to claim a stake lined up on the boundaries of Indian Territory on the day of the land run, waiting for gun blasts to signal the beginning of the land run. The "Sooners" didn't wait for the gun blasts-they sneaked over the line and got a head start on everyone else.

We're proud of our unique history and call ourselves the OU Sooners. Boomer Sooner is our fight song.

Sorry my explanation is so long.

Boomer Sooner!

ROLL TIDE :thumbsup2

bamajill,
We went to Alabama to watch the Sooners play Alabama in '03 and had a blast. The Alabama fans were so hospitable and you have such a tradition of great football. We loved that barbecue place that everyone goes to before the game-is it called the Tune In? That was the best barbecue ever!

I'll have to second bamajill with a big ROLL TIDE! :thumbsup2

The most famous BBQ place around here is Dreamland.....it is wonderful and on everyone's "to do" list. There are a lot of BBQ places, but I can't think of one called "Tune In"..... Where did you go to eat there? I am sure I can figure it out for you.

By the way, we greatly enjoyed the brief Oklahoma series as well....of course, we would've liked it better if we had won :goodvibes but the games were enjoyable none-the-less. Two great traditional college football powers going at it with class fans on both sides. We don't always get that from some of our rivals.... :rolleyes1

I can't wait for football season to start. DH decided to bite the bullet and order NFL Sunday Ticket. I will no longer be at the mercy of the networks and will get to see my Bears play. :woohoo:

Dreamland! That's it. (Don't know where I came up w/ Tune In).

Dreamland was the best pre-football meal ever.

For college:
F-L-O-R-I-D-A-S-T-A-T-E! FLORIDA STATE! FLORIDA STATE! FLORIDA STATE! WOOO!

And the JAGUARS for the NFL.

Less than two weeks until training camp!!! Woo hoo! :bounce: :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:

I just love the shot of Homer listening to his radio in church!

(M) Go Blue!
Go Colts!

Another big Roll Tide here as well.

After DD learned to say mommy and daddy, we immediately taught her Roll Tide and how to do the hand motions. Followed closely with saying Auburn and her doing thumbs downs saying booo. We need to squeeze in something bad to do with the name Tennessee. :teeth:
