Has anyone done this on the ship???? It sounds nice but it's $55.00-:confused3-trying to figure out if I should get one before I get there or wait and do this one on ship??????????????????????????

I have not tried a pedicure on the ship, but I really love to have one done before leaving on vacation. $55 sounds like a steep price - most of the nail salons in our area offer them for around $30. Personally, I like to get one done just before leaving, that way the moment my shoes are off and my sandals are on I feel like I am really on vacation. Sometimes the ladies at the nail salon will paint little designs on the big toes - maybe I'll see if they can do Mickey ears... Which of course reminds me I need to figure out how to fit one in before we leave on Saturday!

Aaaahhhh - five more days and so much to do!!!

Yea I think you have made up my mind :banana::banana: Are we on the same ship :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oh do it before you leave home!! That is very pricey!! Mine is $20 for the local nail salon and then I always round it to $25 with tip. I do mine and DD's as a treat before vacation. :thumbsup2

I think so - we are on the 10/24 Magic cruise. Now I just need to decide what color to get, IMO vacations need to be celebrated with something other than the traditional pink or red toes. Maybe a little Ariel purple or some Nemo blue...
What color would be best for a Disney cruise? :)

My DD and I are getting the Mickey ears on Wednesday :) I'm not sure what colors yet..

I have had it done and it's wonderful. Is it different from what I'd get at home? Yes. I will have mine done this Saturday, and then, will have it done on the ship before I get off. It's worth it to me to have that relaxing time watching the ocean while I have it done. I will also have a manicure the same day. :) Just my vice on the ship.

I wonder if I could get them to paint a little tiny Nemo & Dori for me - LOL! Reading through the DIS board this afternoon has inspired me, but not shortened my to do list!

I will look for you all and your pretty toes on Saturday!

I had it done on the very same ship just 3 weeks ago. It was nice to look out at the water and would have been more relaxing had the lady who was doing my pedicure stopped pushing their products so much. My husband said the massage was the same way but VERY relaxing. I won't do the pedicure again, rather I'll do it at home before. Every experience is different however. You just never know.

I have had mani/pedis done on the ship three times and all three times I've been disappointed. They just don't seem to last like the ones I have done at home. I must be a slow learner, because I keep going back... but this time I've decided to try the scalp massage instead. It's something I can't get at home, so it will be a great treat. I agree with the others.... get it done before you leave , you'll save money and can enjoy it the whole time. Bon Voyage!

I had a pedi on the Magic two weeks ago and my advice would be to do it before you leave home. The technician lady I had did heavily push a bunch of products, many of which weren't even related to foot care.

I always get a french pedicure at home (pinkish toes with white tips) and I did the same on the ship. The ones I get at home are much, much prettier and the experience is better because I don't have to listen to a giant commercial for this or that overpriced product. I will say, though, that the paint is holding up just as long as the pedis I get at home do.

Based on the price and the overall experience, I say do it at home. You'll have plenty of other activities to do on the ship!

I always have it done beforehand at home (but I'm a regular pedi-going gal; it's one of my very few vices :thumbsup2... DexH calls them my million dollar toes....)

But the REASON that I would not have them done on the ship is that I find all of that walking on beaches, and/or water shoes does a number on my feet! I'd hate to spend $50 + $10 tip and then ruin my pretty toes the next day or two while dragging them through the sand or while snorkeling. Just my opinion!

Yes, yes ... and that's why I get my pedi at the end of the cruise. That way, my toes are pretty when I get off the boat. :)

For those that enjoy but don't want the sales pitch I am sure I read on the boards that when you check in and they have you fill the form out you can just write "no sales please" on the form and they will not bother you with sales talk. I forgot when I had my massage on the Magic in august but it was not too bad, she went through the product at the end and I said I would have to speak to my husband before deciding on any purchases (not strictly true but I am hopeless at just saying no thank you!)

Great idea, Mel!! Thank you so much for saying this. I will remember it in 2 weeks.

I have always done mine at home before. I have never had any issues with chipping or scratching in the sand, etc. Bring your own top coat and do a layer every night, that should keep you pretty and shiny.
