Food & Wine....Last Minute...AGAIN. Let's Eat! Updated: 3/9!! The End.

Hmmm...you know you are addicted to Disney when...you have overlapping trip reports.:rotfl2: I can barely keep up with lurking on one and now I have to worry about a second? You really don't want me to get any work done at the office do you?

Honestly I don't know why we don't just plan a trip when F&W is going on because the last 2 years we did an on the fly trip.
I think it's someting to do with the time of year... you know I never plan any trips during that time.... but I'm there EVERY year, right?!

Looking forward to it Kat! :thumbsup2

Hey everyone...thanks for coming on over!

I plan to get this bad boy off the ground over the next few days. Hopefully it won't take me a million years to finish like the other one, after all this trip is a lot shorter than the last one.

On with the food porn!

So it begins, again.

A little back story, if you’ll indulge me a bit.
Another impromptu trip to WDW. My husband swears he has had enough Disney after the January trip with our friends….then he suddenly wants to go to Food & Wine. I don’t argue. I am not dumb. So this was planned a few weeks in advance so the traditions we usually have were broken, a lot. Makes it harder to deal with for Mrs. Planner (that’s me) but makes Mr. F&W happy.

Let me also say that DH’s boss is a fairly well known member of the Disney community. He tends to understand 2 weeks notice for an impromptu trip, luckily. As soon as DH said I could do it, I was pulling the trigger on the trip. The only catch was that we had to plan it for a Thurs and a Fri (DH’s normal days off). No problem! He got coverage for the weekend and a nice little 4 day trip was born!

Onward & upward…

Instead of our usual early morning flight, we opted for a late afternoon flight. That way KC could work half a day. Not to mention it was considerably cheaper than leaving the next morning. We also saved on cab fare to the airport because it’s closer from his office in NYC to Laguardia. Score! We almost always fly out of JFK, so going to LGA was a weird change in itself.
I was up early of course. We were already packed and I sent the suitcase with KC to work that morning. There was no way I was lugging a suitcase on the subway, not with my back. SO he took it. Yep folks I packed ONE carry on sized rolling bag for both of us for 4 days! Bow to me, I know I am a packing goddess. I had a large tote to bring with me tho, with mostly all our toiletry stuff in it.

Obviously I was up early. Like when KC left for work in the early morning, I never made it back to sleep. I got ready and was out the door around 11am. After a stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and a bagel (a tradition for all trips) I hopped on the subway and headed for NYC. KC wasn’t leaving work until 12:30 so I met up with our friend Pants in Herald Square (near Macy’s) and relaxed a bit with him before going to pick up KC at the office. By 12:30 we had a car service ready to pick us up and we were on our way.

Usually we leave out of JFK but it was LGA this time, since it’s cheaper this time around. We hadn’t left from this airport for any trip since 2005 on our honeymoon. Now I remember why. It was nothing in comparison to JFK. So we found our terminal, found some drinks and plopped down at the gate. The flight boarded really early so that made me super happy! We actually were off the ground on time!

I always forget to take my camera out on the plane…but not this time!

We watched Tinkerbell on KCs movie player

It was so cute BTW! We arrived at MCO without a hitch, and without the need to go to baggage claim! I stopped at Starbucks for a few bottled frappacinos for my caffeine fix for the next few days. Then we headed to check in for Magical Express.

HOLY CROW. I haven’t encountered a line that long ….ever…at the ME desk. KC took one look at me and headed to sit down while I braved the line. It took a good half hour before I was up to the desk. Of course the check in was 30 seconds long. I collected KC and we were headed to our bus line.
We waited maybe 5 minutes there and were shown to a bus! Score. Until we had to wait another half hour for it to fill up and leave.

Notice it’s dark when we took this and we arrived around 5:30ish at the airport.

Finally we arrived at All Star Music. It was about 8pm by this point. So the check in line wasn’t bad. That is until the CM tried to tell me we were in the Broadway Building. I calmly explained about my back and could we get anything closer. I knew some of the Jazz Building rooms aren’t preferred rooms so I had hoped for a miracle. He did a bit of typing and eventually gave us Room # 9533 in Jazz Building #9, second floor! It was actually the exact opposite of where we stayed last time we were there, same building! We stopped at the concierge desk to get our room keys and tickets put together on the KTTW cards and we were off to check out our new digs.

So the only thing we couldn’t manage was a king bed upgrade…oh well looks like we’ll be sleeping in 2 beds this vacation!

It was a long day. LOL.

The room was fine, and after an inspection, clean. It was kinda weird to us since the last time we stayed here it was a suite. We settled in a bit and tried to decide what to do for the rest of the night.

Up next…. do we make it to a park at all this night???

Next Update: HERE!

I'm in! And I do bow to your packing ability! I'm not sure I could fit everything in a carry-on!!

Your TR is coming at the perfect time. I have the winter blahs and the 7 months+ til I will be back in WDW for F&W seem like an eternity.

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Wooohooo you've arrived, well done on the packing that's great, what a pain about the ME check in line but at least you got there :thumbsup2

WTG on the room thing. Maybe the long ME line was a blessing as it meant the buses filled up quickly? :)

I'm glad you're "there"!:thumbsup2

You're back at Disney World! Hurray! :cheer2:

I couldn't stay away from TR writing!

Apparently there was a conference because no one on the line knew what they were doing, but they were all going to CSR so it was fine for us!

Dude.

I'm just happy you survived LaGuardia! :scared: :scared: :scared: I place it second only to Newark in my list of Airports I've Had Enough Of.

I had to laugh about Jazz, though... I've stayed at ASMu a handful of times, and have always been placed in Jazz! Last time, I started wondering if there really were any other buildings. :rotfl:

DUDE - 1 bag, 2 people, 4 days??? :faint: You are my packing guru! :worship:

Can you come over in about 6 months? :teeth:

Great start! Too bad about the ME lines, hey what's an hour or 2 at WDW!!???
