Food & Wine cancellation?

We've had to cancel our F&W excursion this year due to several reasons. My problem is our reservation @ an OKW studio was made using banked points. The points will go into holding if we cancel, they must be used before 11/30/08. Am I better off canceling and trying to rent out the points or would I have a better chance at offering the reservation when able to post on R/T board? There will also be MNSSHP events during that time, I am in such mess over this

If it were me, I'd keep the reservation and offer it on the R/T board. This is food & wine season - and it is getting to be too last moment to have your points go into holding during this crazy season.

What are your dates? If you were going to F&W, it doesn't seem likely that you're within 31 days of your scheduled arrival yet.

Unless you are inside 31 days, your points would not go into holding. You have 4+ months to rent them, but you shouldn't have any restrictions on booking.

If you want to rent your existing reservation on the R/T board, you will have to wait until 30 days out. However, you can list the points for rent and then when you get a renter, cancel the existing ressie and make a new ressie for the renter.

With those dates, you would not have holding account unless you cancelled on or after 9/22.

You still only have 4+ months left before the points expire, and you can't put them back in next UY -- but you won't have any restrictions on booking unless you just fall asleep at the switch.

I second Jim's suggestion. List the points for rent now. If you manage to rent them, cancel the OKW reservation and use the points to make a reservation for your renter. If you haven't rented them by 30 days from check in, then list the existing OKW reservation.

As Jim said, your points won't go into holding if you cancel at least 31 days from check in but since they are banked points, you still have to use them up this UY.
