Sunday I move from the Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal to OKW. The activities for the day include pool in the morning and then hitting the outlets before checking in at OKW. I also need to do some food shopping prior to checking in. Given I will be at the Belz outlets, where is a good place to grab some grub for the week?

Thanks.... Paul

There is a Publix behind the premium outlet mall that will have much better prices than the Goodings just outside the World. We found this after we purchased our overpriced groceries at Goodings, and will use it next time we come down.

We usually hit Publix. Good selection, clean store and decent prices.

We made the mistake of shopping @ Goodings on our first trip home last week. Their prices were outragous!

We located the Super Target and Albertson's off Exit 11 on HWY 417 (Orange Blossom Trail) when we were headed to the airport on our way home. We will be stopping there before we check in to OKW next year.

Could not find a box of cereal under $5.00 @ Goodings! Yikes!

Not a good idea for Paul - since you are out shopping anyway, but....

I did, however, just discover that Goodings will deliver to the resort. So, if you are willing to pay their prices (and order $50 worth of groceries, and are willing to pay a $10 delivery fee) you can have your groceries delivered and not have to go out of your way - with a better selection than the WDW stores. Prices seemed pretty comparable to our recent Screen Door trip (eggs at Screen Door, $1.25, dozen eggs from Goodings $1.29).

We have our groceries delivered at home, so I'm not used to grocery stores - then a strange store on top of that - plus regionalism (regional brands and preferences meant we were looking in the wrong place for the wrong thing) - and our grocery stop was a nightmare. I'm trying to figure out how to avoid a grocery stop in the future - and still get some things I need. I'm willing to pay a little for the convinience - even Goodings prices are a drop in the bucket when we start talking about a Disney trip.

IIRC, one of the stores (Albertsons?) will let you fax in a list and they will shop for you - so your grocery stop is just swinging by to pick it up. Albertsons does offer delivery in some other markets (the Bay Area) so maybe delivery will come to Orlando shortly from somewhere other than the opportunistic Goodings.

The prices are higher at Goodings, but the quality and selection are excellent. Furthermore, the convenience of having it delivered (and not having to go there) is well worth it, IMHO: I am willing to pay a little extra in order to preserve more of my vacation for vacationing (and not boring everyday stuff like grocery shopping). Hey we tip the bellman $5 when he brings us our luggage, and the valet $2 when he drops off our car, no big deal paying Goodings a small fee and a premium to bring me provisions for my stay. Plus I know that when I buy a few groceries during my stay, my family saves hundreds on convenience meals, and can focus the vacation dollar on having really nice meals once a day, and playing more "whack-a-mole" or whatever.

That was pretty much my thought as well. My only issue is that I do find Goodings to be opportunistic - I'd RATHER give my money to another grocer - one that hasn't been lining their pockets from naive Disney guests for years. However, until I find someone else that will deliver (and Netgrocer doesn't have enough selection) - Goodings may get my business.

Anyone in the Orlando area looking for a business opportunity?

I thought publix would deliver - but I don't think WDW allows them on property - like some of the food delivery you know you have to go to either the security gate or the front desk to get it.

wdw can be very territorial.

We just came back from OKW. Had a good tim. DO NOT shop at Goodings. The prices are high and check the expiration date on the things you buy. We noticed alot of items had dates on them that were ready to expire soon. So be carefull!!
