I tried to find some other posts on this but wasnt able to find all of the info I am looking for. Staying at Saratoga Springs at the end of October- we wanted to take a cab to go food shopping as its too much of a pain to bring all of the stuff with us. Is this the best way to go or cheaper to rent a car for the day. Also found some info on delivery services- are they trust worthy??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've heard great things about GardenGrocer.com WeGoShop.com . Both will do the grocery shopping for you and deliver to your WDW resort. Their service charge is less than you would pay for a rental car and much less of a hassle.

However, if you want meat and produce in your order, perhaps you might want to pick it out yourself. I know that I can be particular with those grocery items. If all you want is bread, milk, juice, etc. They would probably be the best way to go.

Thanks- we were told its cheaper to get a taxi to the local super market then to rent a car. Just not sure its worth all the hassle though- I iliek the idea of haveing the food delivered right to the room.

I have learned over the years that I always bring waaay too much. Now I'll perhaps throw a box of cereal and/or packets of oatmeal in suitcase, some coffee and if I get real engergetic, have a small lunch bag sized cooler if I want to bring things that need to be cooled. (Sterile) urinecups do great for little bits of peanut butter, etc. I'll buy milk and eggs and bread from the marketplace at the resort. I've taught myself that I'm on vacation too-BUT it's just my husband and I, if we still had young kids-that'd be a whole 'nother post. At that point I'd be doing delivery service.

we used and LOVED Gardengrocer.com their delivery was on time and order was exact, they even checked to see that we were happy!! Will use em every trip! :thumbsup2

:) Your title to your thread made me smile :)
I am from the east coast and have always said "food shopping"...
when I moved to the midwest, people laughed at me (in jest).... now it is "grocery shopping". (I still say I'm going food shopping!) :)
Enjoy your trip!

I had a great experience last year getting a delivery from Gooding's (www.goodings.com), a local supermarket that also delivers.

I chose a delivery because it was very convenient and also a big time-saver -- why would I want to spend precious vacation time inside a strange supermarket where I don't know where anything is stocked???

I chose Gooding's specifically because their delivery policy is VERY convenient. You don't have to schedule a time for the delivery, and you don't need to be in your room. They automatically deliver to your resort's Bell Services (BS). BS then calls your room to see if you're in. If you are, great, they'll be right there. If you're not, they leave you a message to call them, and then they store your groceries for you, even keeping the cold stuff cold (Gooding's separately bags and labels the cold stuff).

The Gooding's website has a quite limited selection, but that doesn't limit your choices. You can order anything they have on their shelves, except for alcohol. WeGoShop and Garden Grocer CAN and DO deliver alcohol.

OP, you asked if the delivery services are trustworthy. Well, I can say this -- WeGoShop and Garden Grocer are both stand-alone delivery services (they shop at whatever stores you want them to shop at). Their ONLY business is grocery deliveries. They must be good at it or they wouldn't be in business anymore.

And my own personal experience with Gooding's was absolutely wonderful. Roughly half of my order was for specific brands that were not listed on their website but that they stocked in the store -- if you've ever had toddlers and other little ones, you know how brand-loyal and brand-specific they can be. They were great with my deli order, slicing the deli American cheese very thin, as ordered. I ordered about 5 pounds of bananas (for 6 of us over one week), and requested that half be ripe and half be green, so that at the beginning of the week we'd have ripe and ready-to-eat bananas, and by the end of the week we'd have newly-ripened bananas ready to eat, instead of mushy brown ones. They came through with this odd-but-understandable request, also.

Is there internet service at the value resort hotels so we could place an order for Goodings or some such service to deliver a few items to our hotel room? SOrry is my first trip, and not wasting time in a grocery store sounds like a wonderful idea! Thanks=)

For ANY of the delivery services, you place the order when you're still at home, a few days before you leave.

Gardangrocer.com is awesome! Of course I ordered way too much, we were on the free dining plan as well.

I thought the kids would eat more in the morning but they didn't.

Gardengrocer had our order ready for us right when we arrived no hassle at all.
