What is Devon Cream? I know it is a spread for breads, English muffins, etc.
But what is it? Is it like a real creamy butter?
Same with Curd. Is Curd just like Jam?

(I am looking at wolfermans.com and found these.)

TIA

Do you mean what we call 'clotted cream' maybe?

If so it's a really creamy cream, almost cream cheese like in it's consistancy.
It has a sweet, rather than savoury, taste :)

You really must try and get some to try :thumbsup2

That may be it. I was wondering if it is like a very creamy cream cheese with a bit of sugar.
And the curd I thought might be a jam with a bit of cream in it. :confused3
Sounds yummy.

Maybe I need to start an exchange for WDW and UK food!

hmmm... wonder if UK in World Showcase carries anything like this....

Not sure if the Rose and Crown serve it on there desserts? It might be worth asking :)

Do you mean lemon curd? It's made with lemons, eggs, butter and sugar - I remember making some for a Girl Guide badge years ago. I haven't made it since! It's like a jam.

Devon cream is clotted cream. I'm not a Brit (honorary, maybe?) but we get our clotted cream under the name Devon Cream quite often. It isn't like butter, it's more like whipped cream the consistancy of butter. Very light-flavored, creamy and absolutely lovely. :goodvibes

The lemon curd you are likely to get in the US is like a less tart version of the filling for Lemon Cream Pie. A bit creamier, not so tart, but still with that tangy taste. It's usually cloudy as opposed to the more 'clear' version in pie. Quality varies greatly (some of it is downright putrid), so get the best you can find if you try it. :thumbsup2

Hi

I love clotted cream. Everytime we go to Cornwall I always have cream tea. Scone, Clotted cream with jam and a nice cup of tea yum

I posted a local food exchange suggestion on the Exchange board.
Anyone interested may want to check there.
I think it sounds like fun. :)

We do need to be careful what we send - the USA has very strict rules on what food products can be imported :)

devon cream is definitely clotted cream..
in the "English tea" at the CF they called it devon cream.. and i was like.. what the hell is devon cream.. but.. its clotted cream! :)

I've signed up for the food exchange, i did it last year! All fun:goodvibes

Interesting... I have mailed and received LOTS overseas. But mostly pins. Often we each stuck in candy or treats as additional items, esp during the holidays.
But I have not mailed packages of food overseas, other than to American troops.
So far, the downside on my side is just the mailing cost! :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for your input! :hippie: :wizard:
