Food Quality Went Downhill

We just got back from a trip last week, and had been looking forward to the Disney dining. Unfortunately most of our experiences were very disappointing, as the quality of the restaurant food has definitely taken a turn for the worse.

CSR's Pepper Market: The food was overcooked and dry, and all our meals tasted just blah.

Tutto Italia: A huge disappointment; my lasagna tasted no different than canned Chef Boyardee. Our other dinners were mediocre at best. I cannot believe the prices they charge when you don't even get a salad or vegetable with your entree. My gelato dessert would have been great if the berries weren't completely frozen.

Crystal Palace dinner: The prime rib was replaced with an eye of round. A very, very overdone eye of round ... absolutely dried out and tasteless. As was the turkey. Yuck! And my beloved tiramisu was removed from the dessert section. Figures.

Liberty Tree dinner: Wow, what everyone said about the food tasting like packaged Stouffer's was correct. The meat is a london broil, and was just okay. The ham was the canned variety, as was the turkey. The dinner rolls used to be warm and delicious ... now they're of lesser quality and served cold. Cheap!

And Boma's breakfast just ain't what it used to be. And our server there was sooooo slooooow. While we were waiting (and waiting) for our check, I actually thought she had left and gone home.

Our food at Mama Melrose was actually decent, as was the food at Prime Time. Although our server there could have been working at a Denny's or similar, as she provided none of the experience for us AT ALL. 'Ohana's food was still fine, particularly the steak and bread pudding. And Le Cellier was still good as ever; we went at lunch.

One more thing, we opted to try Pizzafari at AK instead of our beloved Flame Tree BBQ. What a mistake; their food was mediocre at best. And while sitting at their outside tables, our legs and ankles were attacked by unseen insects that left welts all over with resulting itching for DAYS! Beware!

Wow - that sucks. Thanks for the honest review.

I can best describe our meals at WDW as hit-and-miss. We are always so happy to be there and be together that it usually doesn't bring us down at the time, but later it's like... "I'm not in a hurry to go back to that restaurant."

Still love Ohana's, Chef Mickey's, and some others - but they have strong sentimental ties for me, so that colors my judgement as well.

Glad you had a few good experiences in there as well! :thumbsup2

That's terrible, we are leaving in less than two weeks and are really looking forward to dining there. I hope we have better tasting food at the TS places we chose.

We just got back . . . quality of the restaurant food has definitely taken a turn for the worse . . .

1) Among "foodies", becoming to be a concensus.
2) Even among a lot of non-foodies.
3) Certainly the way we feel.

Have you been away from the boards for awhile? A lot of what you describe has been discessed here.
I agree with Rusty.
It is sad

i've even noticed this at some of my favorites :(

in march i could tell the quality of my california grill wasn't what it normally was.

last week, after 3 tries with my steak, i just ate my sides and skipped dessert. i'm not one to complain about steak--especially when i'm hungry. my fiance noticed a decline in service and quality of his meal as well. very sad. we almost booked that location for our wedding reception. we're going to take a hiatus from there until the reviews start to perk up.

i had a better steak the next day at san angel inn for lunch.

on the flip side, we think that citricos gets better every time!!

We also got back from a trip last week. The only really bad meal I has was at the French Quarter. I got the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich. It was disgusting!

I do agree with you about Boma...we were huge fans of this place and the last time we ate there it was good but nothing like it used to be

I couldn't agree more. After hundreds of meals at Disney, I'm just not into the food there any longer. We will be there in a weeks for 3 nights again celebrating my husbands 50th with our kids and for the first time can't come up with any place that we care to eat at.

I love that we are both from Naples and heading to Disney to celebrate our hubby's birthdays, just a week apart! I was trying to see from your picture if I knew you, but it's too small!

This is sooooo depressing!!!! I hate reading bad reviews about Disney...food, attractions, ANYTHING!! We've fortunately have had great experiences over the past few years (except at San Angel Inn). That's too bad. Hopefully they step it up a bit.

Too bad. We ate there in 2010 Feb and loved the breakfast.

One of my favorite breakfast items used to be their warm sticky buns. This time however, they were sitting there cold and hard as a rock. That whole experience was so disappointing, compared to how things were before.
