I personally find I enjoy Canadian Coca-Cola to American. Theirs just seems more carbonated and...just different! Granted, they get Cherry Coke which I always have to bring back when I head over to the states shopping!

Yeah, it's the corn syrup in the U.S. Cokes that make them taste so different. I usually can't finish a U.S. bottle or can just because it tastes so bad. On the plus side though, you can find Mexican Coke there which is made with cane sugar that is way better than ours.

You likely won't need this for kids but I always bring my own tea bags when I travel in the states. I hate their tea. I have to have my tea every morning so I bring along my Tetley bags. Their tea just doesn't taste the same. Also remember that American ice tea is not usually sweetened. My daughter found that out last time we were at WDW!!!! I had forgotten to tell her.

We were just over in Port Huron a few days ago and we brought back coloured fish crackers because you can't buy them here. We also buy Chex Mix and Hershey bars. I know you can buy Hershey bars here but according to my DD they don't taste the same. I also buy Jiffy corn meal muffin mix.

Really you think American KD tastes weird?? DH and I prefer it to the Canadian and make sure we pick up lots when we do USA runs!!

Oh shoot! This has gotten a bit twisted...I was looking for tips on food you can not get around Disney World.

I had forgotten about the unsweetened iced tea, that's a good reminder. I also need to double check on where it is in WDW they serve the diet lemonade, because I can't stand it. We will definitely be bringing our own coffee and tea.

But I was thinking more for little kids, like their favorite snack foods, breakfast foods, etc., so the corn pops and the KD are good tips. My little guy's absolute favorite snack food is the new Quaker Cinnamon Crunchers...anyone know if they have those down there?

briarberry I also bring my Tetley tea to Florida each and everytime we go! I hate the US teas and also when you do order a "hot" tea they put half and half in instead of milk! Ughhhhhhhh.....

DH always takes a can or two of Timmie's coffee also!

Sammi, I laughed when I read your post! I guess we Canadians are more British that we like to think, especially when it comes to tea! We leave next Thursday for 10 days and I already have my Tetley packed in my little bin that we take for the resort room. My girlfriend is coming with us this time and I was talking to her last night and she asked me about our morning tea and I told I had it covered! By the way, I see you are in Simcoe - I'm just in St. Thomas - small world!

For the OP - the first time I took my DD, who was 7 at the time, I packed her favourite snacks but she could have cared less. She ended up enjoying the different treats available at the resort (POP) and the parks. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I ended up bringing stuff home! She liked the Mickey head rice krispie treats and the Mickey head chocolate cake pieces. To this day she usually consumes several of these. Our favourite snack place is the Main Street Bakery. I love the French Toast loaf - yum. We are not breakfast eaters so we have a quick snack (granola bar or something similar) in the room before heading out in the morning and if we are at MK we stop at the Bakery around 10:00 for treats.

we couldn't find smarties down there except at the canadian pavillion in epcot either. also if you have a child with nut allergies it's a bit harder to find things for them as alot of the food is not marked with nut free....just a warning.

Well briarberry it's truly a "small world after all"...... I actually am of British heritage so I guess I get that from my Scottish family as I love tea especially Tetley! And yep we're off in Nov for 10 days and I'm already planning my tea package to take with me.

I totally agree with this, I thought the same thing!!!!!

We got groceries delivered from GG. The raisin bran (ew) was horrid and the Captain Crunch peanut butter was woody tasting.

On the other hand, we did get some 100 calorie cupcakes (3 in a pack) that were dry, but edible when you have a chocolate craving.

Also, generally, their food does taste way greasier (is that a word??) than ours, so beware.

My DS 8, cannot have any food colouring, not much available without that either.
