Has anyone ever tried the Food Lovers Diet? It sounds great (which makes me leary) and was wondering if anyone on the boards had success with it. It is a program that teaches you about fast and slow carbs. and how to eat them combined with other foods to keep your motabolism working fast. You do not cut out eating and you do not give up your favorites. It appears you may even eat more.

I have been trying to loose weight for over 2 months now. I have dropped 9 lbs but I feel like I am getting no where fast. I have also incorporated a regular exercise program into my days. I don't do Weight Watchers or any food buying programs. They are too expensive for my budget. I'd love to hear from you all.:dance3:

I've never heard about this. Sounds interesting.

I have never heard of The Food Lovers Diet but I have been doing low carb and exercising for 2 months and have lost almost 20 lbs. I gave up sugar and white flour and  beer, lol. I do love a beer after I mow the lawn. It hasn't been too hard and I am feeling great!

I do spend money on Atkins bars so if I want something besides fruit after dinner I can have one of those. They have low net carbs and some of them are really good.

Congratulations on the 9 lbs too! Weight loss is hard work don't give up and keep looking for that thing that works for you!

I dont know about this particular diet, but I lost over 80+ pounds last year using the free site, sparkpeople.com they probably have a group who is doing this particular diet and would be able to give you tips. Spark is basic calorie and exercise counting, with great message boards and teams you could participate in if your inclined. All kinds of "diets" are discussed on there, from atkins, to ww, to jenny craig, to anything diet you can name. My own personal tip is to keep a journal or blog, it does help to go back over where you are mentally in your journey.....and the more you log your food, the better you will understand why you probably gained weight, and what to do to lose, and keep it off. Im 6 months past the end of loss, and maintaining, which should be the easy part :rotfl: but I still use the site weekly to keep myself focused. The 3 year mark for keep weight off seems to be the bench mark of someone who has done this successfully, so I still have a ways to go in my own journey! Best of luck to you, I know how hard it can be.

Veggies, whole grains/pasta, etc., dairy, lean meats...where have I heard that before?

If you think this would help you, then go for it. I can't put down a program that promotes eating healthy. My promise to myself was to never spend any money on a diet again. No more books, paid websites, you get the idea.

I've lost weight because of my gallbladder and eating a very low fat, low sugar diet. My body forced me to eat this way, but with the help of my Dr., I'm going to continue after my surgery. I eat between 5-10% fat, but try to stay closer to 5%. It's hard and my dr. said I can't live this way for too long, but soon I'll be able to slowly increase my fat intake to a healthy level.

My main focus is on fat, sugar and sodium in foods.

Congrats on losing 9 lbs.! Just keep going. Your tongue loves the taste of foods you shouldn't have too much of, but your organs down below are going to suffer because of it. What's more important? Tongue or all the other organs? I've been thinking of that lately.

Ooooo, I'm going to try the sparkpeople website!! Thanks for the tip!:)

I'm not a diet expert by no means. But 9 lbs. in 2 months is a good start. Most dieticians (spelling?) will tell you to only lose 1 to 1 1/2 lbs a week. The hardest thing to remember and abide by is "you didn't gain the weight overnight so therefore you can't lose it overnight". I myself have the hardest time with this. But have always been told, the slower you lose the weight the more likely you are to keep it off, the faster you take it off the faster you are to put it back on.
Did not mean to lecture, Good Luck with your weight lost and keep up the good work. 9 lbs. to me is a milestone:thumbsup2

Thanks for all your feedback and ideas. I liked all of them from the free site recommended to remembering that it took a long time to put my weight on so give myself time to take it off. And, thank you for the positive feedback on my current weight loss.

I definitely won't give up. And I too, am not so sure on purchasing the different plans out there but I won't knock them either. Some people do quite well with these plans. I do not.

Ultimately, I think I will just keep doing what I have been and maybe I will incorporate the free site recommended too. Also, keeping a journal is a great idea.

I was hoping to lose 30 lbs before our upcoming trip but I don't think I will hit that mark. I have 3 weeks left. It has been much harder than I thought.

Thanks again for everyones feedback, and my congradulations to all who shared their achievements too!!!!

That's a really good way to look at it. I'm going to keep that in mind during those moments of temptation.

I like SparkPeople and their recipes are good too. I also really like myfitnesspal.com. It is also free but i can input my recipes and it gives me the nutritional information. I know spark was supposed to get it too but I think Myfitnesspal is a little easier to use on that front.

The reason it's called "Food Lovers" is cause it's not a program where you deprive yourself of real food that you can get at your grocery store or restaurant. You learn to avoid the unhealthy versions while developing good habits like getting the appropriate amount of sleep and how to develop a sound exercise routine.

I learned about the program when I turned on my TV early on a Sunday morning to watch football and the Food Lovers infomercial was on. I've lost about 7 lbs in the last week. I'm only one week into the program and I have so much more energy each day and I can already feel the difference. I think the program is awesome.
