Food in Disneyland

Hi!

We're planning to snack our way around DL for our first trip there , and I wondered if there was anything special we should look out for, that we can only get in DL, like the Beaver Tails and Dole Whips in WDW.

I'd say the Blue Bayou, a sit down restaurant... not really a snack, but a dining experience overlooking a ride (Pirates?) that is unavailable at WDW. Sorry, haven't been in many years so can't comment.

At DCA in the Paradise Pier area there is a stand called Corn Dog Castle. They have the best corn dogs we have ever tasted!!! They are delicious and HUGE!!

Well, the Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou is good, and if you are in the mood for a true near heart attack, you can top it off with the deep fried cheesecake! You can get mint juleps at New Orleans Square, too. (I am pretty sure you can't find those at WDW.) My favorite place to eat at DL is Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland.....soooooo good! The chicken and veggies skewers are great, as well as the cinnamon twist dessert. There are also Dole Whips in Adventureland, so you could make that a must do on your West Coast trip!

(just for the record, I HATED the Beavertails! I thought I was eating cardboard! )

My must haves on every trip...

Churos, Dole Whip, Mint Julep, Monte Cristo (at Blue Bayou), Fudge covered marshmallow, Jambalya (at French Market)

I forgot to mention the apple fritters! They are SO yummy!! I have to get them every time we go, even if it's every week! I think they have them at the Mint Julep Bar, but I always get them at the Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square. They also have clam chowder here served in bread bowls. I hear it's very good, but I don't like seafood so I've never tried it.

Currently, the Bengal BBQ and the Dole Whip stand are closed but will hopefully be open by the time you get there.

You can also find the world's best corn dogs at the red wagon near the hub on Main Street. My personal favorite on Main street besides the corn dogs is the Honeycomb candy at the Candy Palace.

Redd Rocket's Pizza Port in Tomorrowland (also known as Ghost Town) has great salads and pasta.

In DCA you can find Sourdough bread bowls filled with, not only Clam Chowder but also non seafood choices such as Broccoli Cheese soup and one other that I cant remember right now but I know it was good.

Not sure if these are things you can't get anywhere else but these are some of our "don't miss" foods.

nothing beats feeding the ducks (oh yea and yourself too and onion rings!!) at the Hungry Bear! Ill concur about the corndogs at DCA..they have hot links made into corndogs also....yummmmmyyyyy

Also Pizza at Pizza oom mow mow..and who can forget popcorn! also Ice cream at Burrbank ice cream! yummy i just has mint chocolate chip in a peppermint waffle cone YUM!

If you're a chocolate brownie lover, check out Mareceline's in DTD. The triple chocolate and butterfinger brownies are very rich and delicious.

Also for chocolate lovers, the double chocolate bread pudding at Brennan's was unbelievable.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I've got a huge list of things I should look out for! (Can you believe I've never had a corn dog before?) It's all helping build excitement for my trip!

The one thing I'm most looking forward to at DCA is a date shake. I remember my family stopping at roadside stands on the trip from Phoenix to Disneyland and getting them. I see no one has mentioned them yet; the stand is still there, I hope?!?!?!

Where in DCA? Is it at Boudin's (?) How much was it? I just remember my husband and children complaining at the Japanese place at DCA..it was awful.

It's at Pacific Wharf Cafe...I also love the chicken and apple salad there! BTW, that Chinese place Lucky Fortune Cookery is closed now...
