One of the issues we ran into last cruise was our scheduales being really off from the ship leaving us eating a lot of hamburgers from deck as we always seemed to miss lunch and breakfast. Not a fan of eating on deck that frequently. I know there's food in the Con lounge so I was thinking maybe if we went con we would have that to fall back on? Is this a workable plan?

We've only been on the Wish so I can only speak to that Concierge experience. I would say that as long as you're not looking for a big menu you should be fine. The Concierge food was quite good but limited the breadth of offerings. When we ordered from the menu rather than picking something out of the case it took more than half an hour to get it.

For the Fantasy and the Dream, the Lounges only have snacks out. In the mornings, it is small pastries similar to what might be offered in the Cove Cafe, mini cereal boxes, yogurt, stuff like that. If you do not eat much for breakfast, this could be an option. During the daytime, they have deli meats, desserts like cookies, bite size apps, very tiny sliders. Unless you are on the Wish, the lounge will not offer anything substantial for a meal and none of it will be hot food.

Also, room service could be a good option during the off times where Cabanas and the MDR open for lunch is changing over or closed!

Hmmm is room service still free?

No, you are not required to tip for room service. But, many people do.
That wasn't the question, of course I'll tip - I just know that some cruiselines have specific tips you have to pay for every order no matter what you get.

Welcome back - I hope you finish your trip report!

The lounge is more of light finger foods.

Which ship will you be doing? I found that the Wonder had better food on deck, ie schwarma, soup/hot bowls, wraps, salads, pizza that could be somewhat made to order, and the hours were better, compared to Fantasy. The Wish is supposed to have really good food up on deck.

The upcharge items on Room Service menu are mainly candy, nuts, beer, and canned soft drinks, possibly bottled water available. The “food” items are complimentary - as is milk, coffee and breakfast items. Don’t forget you can have continental breakfast pre-ordered and delivered to your room.

Concierge for food is an expensive option. 😅

I am a light eater-especially eating larger meals every night for dinner. And with all the snacks available.... I can eat concierge offerings for breakfast and lunch/afternoon tea. Breakfast I would have fruit and muesli and a pastry. They also had small smoothies and yogurt parfaits. Lunch time they had tea sandwiches and the like. I never went hungry.

We did Concierge on the Wonder (Alaska) a couple weeks ago.

Our typical day was:

1) Breakfast in concierge
2) Lunch on pool deck (or during an excursion)
3) Grab some drinks before dinner (beer etc.)
4) Dinner in one of the main restaurants
5) If we were still hungry (usually not), dessert in concierge lounge.

The breakfast in concierge was decent enough, I had the smoked salmon, some cold cuts and cheese, and a pastry, and sometimes a yogurt/granola/fruit mix.

We only dined once in Cabanas, it was way too crowded for my taste there, but if you want a fuller breakfast, that is a valid choice.

We tried dinner one night in concierge lounge, it was pretty forgetable (I forgot what I ate already), and we didn't do that again either.

What are you hoping will be different on a different ship?
First - Because we did a back to back on the same ship all the shows and such were doubled and I quickly found myself bored. With a 7 day on the fantasy it should be a long enough cruise without having to double up on everything.
Second - And this one is tottaly not the wonder's fault but it is tied up with the wonder in my mind - we'll get a handicap room and that will solve so many issues we had with our cabin last time. At our age we actually need the things offeed by an accesible room, and it will be nice not to have to park my ecv on a different floor.
Third - Pete seems to think the food on the Fantasy is better than the food on the Wonder.
Fourth - I can't help but wonder how much of our issues was caused by the San Diego pier just not being able to keep up with the port canveral one we're used to.
Fifth: I like artist pallate much better on the dream and fantasy
Sixth: Hopefully it will be warmer - we did winter in Mexico and I thought it would be fine but we were freezing the whole trip.
Seventh: It has an ice cream and candy shop
Eighth - more sea days

In the end this is us giving DCL one last chance because we used to be such big fans,

I stopped because I figured nobody needed my negativity - that cruise was so bad we'll never sail the wonder again.

You can skip the cruise part (I have done those). I was waiting for the fun part - your Christmas activities, did you get triple flavor popcorn, etc…

Instead of repeat shows, you get ventriloquists, magicians… So it’s 3-4 nights of not much entertainment (for those of us not interested). - a heads’ up.

Great idea for the HA room!

Port Canaveral is my favorite so far - followed by Pier 66 in Alaska (NCL), which might actually be first. But it is in Seattle and you are going to AK ☺️

Agree about Animator’s Palate - layout and Crush on the screens.

Pacific Coast Mexico - One good thing: Cabo San Lucas.

And did you overcome enough of your anxieties to relax and enjoy yourself?
