Food for the Stingrays @ Castaway Cay ?

Some sort of sea weed bar things I think. They're green, kind of slimy, about small granola bar sized. At least that's what we fed them a few years ago. Not really sure what they're made of... could be fish in them.

* I see they are carnivores so there probably is some kind of sea food in the bars, but they aren't giving you whole fish to feed them like at Sea World.

Found a picture, although it's a little hard to see. You put your hand flat, palm down. Spread your fingers and put one of the bars in between so that in the water it will stick up from between your fingers. Then you put your hand flat on the mickey shape. They are trained to swim up the ramp and over the mickey heads and suck up the food on way by. Keep your fingers flat, they suck pretty hard. And don't get burnt like me :)IMG_7194.jpg

We asked about it. Primary protein is squid and they encase in a type of gelatin that contains other nutrients for the stingrays.

Thank you.

As I am allergic to seafood I will have to write to DCL and ask if wearing gloves or something to handle it is an option or if I would just not be able to do that part.

We just did this last week. They had those squishy bars pictured above, plus cut squid and shrimp for us to feed them.

And yes, keep your hands FLAT as they will vacuum up your fingers! (it doesn't hurt though)

They fed them shrimp when we did it several years ago. I'm allergic to seafood so I didn't do the feeding. DH did and I made him wash his hands afterwards before he touched me.
