DW and I are going back to the World in July, and while we have our usual assortment of signature dining scheduled (Jikos, V&As, Citricos, etc), I am looking for other places to go for great food. For example, we discovered the Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbor House our last time down there. DW is convinced that it is nearly impossible to get good food in the parks - I am hoping to prove her wrong. Any suggestions??

In the parks? Hhhhmmmmm, well for the most part, she's right! EPCOT's World Showcase has some places that have a selection of a bit nicer food. If you don't want a full service meal (like at Bistro in France) there are the counterservice meals that have some choices that are outside the norm.

The first one that pops into mind is the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. Japan has many nice choices now too. (Not counterservice, but still very nice).

Poke around there and you many find some hidden gems.

Can't speak for DHS as I've never eaten there. Nothing has ever tempted me.

Certainly not gourmet, but the Yak and Yeti place has some nice appetizers at the TS restaurant. Can't say as I'd take the time or money for the regular menu items.

We are on the same page here. Most of our meals are at ts restaurants. I like many of the cs places, but we do not eat them every day.

At the MK, we like the Plaza-a ts thats serves hot and cold sandwiches, simple food, but it really hits the spot. We also like CHH, for the fish, chicken strips, soup and salads. Most of the time we wander over to the Polynesian, GF or Contemporary and grab lunch at Kona or GFC.

Epcot does have a lot more choices as the op said. Many of the countries have cs and ts options. The Sunshine Seasons cs at the Land pavillion has several stations offering Asian dishes, Sushi, gourment sandwiches, soups salads and grilled meats. You can always exit the International Gateway and head to the Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin restaurants.

DHS-We usually eat lunch at Mama Melroses, the flatbreads and salads are great to share for lunch. The cs choices are average.

Ak- normally done with the park by lunch, so we head back to our resort to eat. People rave about the Flame Tree BBQ.

Kona Cafe

Filet and Coffee were probably the best I have had anywhere!

Is this either CS or TS?

For TS......have you had a steak yet at Le Cellier? Man, we've been there three times. The last time was during free dining 07. You would think that you might get sub-par food during that time of craziness, but I had one of the best filets I have ever had. Simply melted in my mouth.

Also, the Plaza rest.- I've had a grilled reuben there (I love reubens) that was good and another time a turkey club. Neither of these are difficult to make so it's not rocket-science, but they were very satisfying.

We thought the "Bangers and Mash" and Fried Fish were VERY good at the Rose and Crown (UK-Epcot). And we have always had excellent service there. It's not a huge menu as a whole, but some of the offerings are very delectible! My 14 year old DD loved the fruit and cheese tray appt.

CS........Pinocchio village haus......I haven't had it, but that grilled turkey panini sandwich sounds awesome! Has anyone had that?

Sunshine Season's............My DH has had the salmon twice and he thought it was very good. Now, it's not Artist Point, but it's very good and only $9!!
They even have Seared Tuna there. I would like to try that sometime. And Sunshine Season's has some of the best desserts.

Have you tried the CS in Norway? They make good gormet sandwiches with a cup of soup and rice cream.........ooooh, so good.

Ok I am no help because I am not a fan of the park food minus EPCOT and Brown Derby at HS. I was going to offer the bluezoo, and Il Mulino at the Dolphin/Swan though for something different.

BlueZoo is a good meal - but that violates the "in the park" rule. I like the Pinocchio CS recommendation -we will definitely have to try that. I have heard good things about Moracco CS too, but never tried Norway. I will put that in the rotation for discussion too!

I do like R&C and Le Cellier - we have done both for Lunch. Where is Sunshine Seasons? Is that in the Land? How about Coral Reef? Any yays or nays out there for CR?

We rarely eat in the Parks.

For a great dinner you can try Blue Zoo at the Dolphin or Il Mulino at the Swan. Both outstanding.

I was just talking about Tokyo Dining (Japan Pavilion) in another thread and it was really really good!

We also like the counter service place at Morocco. And what about Hollywood Brown Derby?

Not saying that any of these places are in the same category as the nicer TS restaurants, but some of the park places we enjoy are:

CS:
MK- Love the sandwiches at CHH.
AK- The chicken Ceasar salad and the hot italian sandwich at Pizzafari are decent.
Epcot-The bakeries in France and Norway have some very good desserts.:thumbsup2

Inexpensive table service:
DHS- The burgers and shakes at Sci-Fi are great if you want a simple meal.
MK & Epcot - The Biergarten and Crystal Palace - I think these two are great for buffets. The schnitzel, saurbraten and bavarian cheesecake at Biergarten are good. Crystal Palace has tons of fresh fruit and salads, salmon, mahi-mahi etc... We found the food at both these buffets to be very fresh.

Again- None of these places can hold a candle to places like V&A. But, for what they are, I think they are very good!

I think the fish and chips at Great Britain's CS are the best I have had anywhere. I agree on Harbour House - a nice surprise. I really love the Flying Fish and Brown Derby. And I love the cheese plate at Chef's de FRance....

We love to have lunch at Rose & Crown in Epcot. It's a great way to relax for awhile and get great food and BEER.

BlueZoo is a good meal - but that violates the "in the park" rule. I like the Pinocchio CS recommendation -we will definitely have to try that. I have heard good things about Moracco CS too, but never tried Norway. I will put that in the rotation for discussion too!

We have eaten at Coral Reef probably 5 times in the past 6 years or so. Both lunches and dinners. The wait to be seated is sometimes lengthy, but we have always had a good meal there. And, yes... Sunshine Seasons is in The Land. Very good selections there too.
