Food for 9 month old?

And just one more thing- it does matter to me what other people feed their kids bc eventually it effect my children's future. If we don't take a stand on what our children eat now, then less healthier options will be available as they are older and more and more will be sick (again I'm not saying that your kids are unhealthy or eat unhealthy)...I'm just stating in general. Many parents these days act like a little these things do not effect their children long term when they do. I do not deny my children cake at parties or snacks I just like to do it moderation and certainly not before their little bodies are able to deal. Again, sorry for the confusion.

I'm not equating it with eating unhealthy I guess it kind of come out that way. Sorry. I don't see anything wrong with letting your children eat solid foods if they can I just don't agree with giving them table foods that we typically eat that are loaded with added stuff that babies just shouldn't have, such as additives and salt or sugar, especially at 6 months old. Baby food is almost always whole food with nothing else added- I was mainly concerned about the types of food.

I do appreciate your consideration, too. Gracias!

You are assuming that my husband and I regularly eat food loaded with sugar, salt, and additives; we don't. That organic, free range chicken you claim to be okay with is exactly what my kids get, along with other organic meats, veggies, dairy, and fruit. I also cloth diaper and make my own wipe solution. But none of that is undone by a single vacation where we don't control the food supply and we use commercial diapers and wipes. Clearly you know that, too, or you wouldn't be on the DCL board.

You should try not making assumptions about other people's lifestyles before implying they're bad parents.

I will say again, I am glad you are passionate about this topic. And, yes, we live in communities so we are intertwined. But, you must be careful on how you approach people. You are questioning people from what they feed their children to their relationships with doctors that they trust so much that their children's lives in these doctors' hands. All of this with very little facts. Also, there is a fine line when you step over into a parent's area to decide for their child.

Just remember, people learn more by being taught than lectured. You can do so much good in this area because you are passionate. For example, in my city there are several volunteer groups working to help create gardens by teaching and helping residents in parts of the city with "food deserts". You might be a great resource with an organization in that arena.
