Food...Food...Glorious Food!!

Tigger Tails are a family favorite!

We also love the corn dogs from the cart on Main St and the churros.

On our last trip I finally (yes, over 20 years and I still hadn't eaten these things!), finally tried the beinets and the dole whip. Have to say I wasn't too impressed. Perhaps the "hype" got to me? Who knows:confused3 Either way, I can now cross those items off my "must try" list and move on to other ones!

But the Tigger Tails....really, THE best park treats, IMO. The shop in Critter Co is closed but I've heard you can get these near the Gibson Girl on Main St.

You must try the brocoli cheese soup in a bread bowl at the pacific warf cafe. It is soo good!

I ate this each day I was there for lunch on both of our trips. That's 7 soups in a bread-bowl in a total of 7 days, and I'm not usually a big eater - but I looooooove it!

I also had a big homemade-style chocolate peanut butter cup from a store in DCA (can't remember what it was called), but it was really good, too.

You have to go to the Bengal BBQ in Adventureland! I love their skewers. The only problem is that there's very little sitting or even standing space.

Mint Julips and Beignets are both on my list. Can't recall if anyone mentioned this, but you don't have to go to Cafe Orleans to get them. On the back side of the French Market, right next to the train tracks, there is a little take out window that only serves beignets and julips.

Have to have a Dole Whip too! That's right by the Tiki Room.

Anyone have any "hidden" favorites? I'm going to have to try the baked potato soup at the Carnation Cafe. I'm not familiar with that.

We're heading out there in 4 days! :dance3:

I really love the ribs at pilots in DCA. OMGosh so yummy. I was actually craving them the other day. I had them for the first time during our last trip. Actually I had them twice because they were so good. Ok now Im hungry... mmmmmmmmmm...ribs.popcorn:: And of course got to have a least one churro a day!!!:lmao:

The Chicken Fusilli at Redd Rockett's Pizza Port in Tomorrowland is a favorite among Regular guests. RRPP also has a large variety of salads and pizza, and some other pasta dishes, so it is a good choice for family dining.

The plan is to go to DCA. I keep hearing about those darn ribs and I'm hoping to get to try it tomorrow-lol!

The Dole Whip floats are a must have on my list. My goal on my next visit is to try a beignet since I have never had one.

I just discovered the glory of the Matterhorn Macaroon. It is a wonderful coconut concoction available at the Main Street Bakery for $1.99.

They sell something similar with dark chocolate in CA, in the train car to the right immediately after you cross under the bridge.

Since I tried both varieties I can tell you the one's in Disneyland are better, but get yours quick. Both of the days I visited last week they had sold out by mid afternoon.

I love these! I agree they are better at Disneyland, although they used to make the dark chocolate ones at Blue Ribbon as well and seemed to have stopped in the past year. Those were my favorite! :sad1:

Hmmmmm where do I begin! LOL! Here are my must haves for every trip I take to the DLR:

3 cheese monte cristo and pomme frites at Cafe Orleans (split by 3 of us)
a dill pickle
fried chicken at Plaza Inn (split by 2)
apple pie caramel apple (usually two during the trip but shared both times)
hunney pot krispie treat (afraid I might not get one this time as Pooh COrner is closed :( )
churro

other things I enjoy but don't HAVE to have:

dole whip
mickey pretzel
corn dog

Ok so I have heard the name mint julep but what is it? I am thinking a drink?

Yes, it's a drink. We tried one during our first DL trip a few weeks ago. The best way I can explain it is this ... think limeade with a dash of mint syrup on ice, with a slice of lemon and a maraschino cherry. Interesting, refreshing. Though we liked it, for us it was a good thing to share ... a whole one probably would have been too much. We might try to make them at home for the 4th of July.

Beignets ... we had them from Cafe Orleans and Jazz Kitchen in DTD. Of course they were cuter from CO (Mickey shaped), but they tasted the same in both places.

Our favorite snacks are still the good old standbys of Mickey ice cream bars and Mickey pretzels with cheese. :mickeybar :goodvibes

We had the broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl at the Pacific Wharf - yum! We also bought one of their huge green apples (less than $2) and shared that. The tartness of the apple slices with the bread and the soup .... double yum! And with all the carbs, sugar and salt we were eating, it was good to eat something healthy.

Where to being:rolleyes1:

Clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl at the French Market
Chimmichangas found on carts in Frontierland and Fantasyland
Gibson Girl Ice Cream
Matterhorn macaroon
Popcorn (DL does make it best)
Wood fired pizzas at PCH Grille
Fudge!
Frozen mochas at Main Street Bakery
Original monte cristo

Just a few of the things I'll be eating in May!:thumbsup2

I learned of this little secret from an engineer of the DLRR. It's called Tigger Butter & is a most decadent dark, white marbled fudge with a splash of peanut butter. It is just some of the best fudge on the planet. It costs about $4 per square but you can't really eat more than 1/4 of the square at any one time.

ok those that posted about the ribs at taste pilots, I have also heard they are super duper good, never had them yet though, but i have had the burgers and i never had a bad one!..the burgers are awesome as well........................ ..mm omg i want a blue cheese burger from taste pilots right now!

tiger butter, yeah i think i have seen that in the candy stores with all the other fudge, most of the fudge at disneyland is huge sqaures with a large price tag also!

The Tiger Butter fudge is to die for good. It is so rich and cutting it in four pieces is brilliant. I got it in DTD at Marceline's. My whole family loved it.:goodvibes
