Food Drunk- 10 Days of Deliciousness.

Sorry in advance for the out of order multi-quotes... I had no idea what I was doing and just started clicking. Hahaha.

I love cake. Aboslutely love it. I would love to try coconut and key lime filling. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews. Did I mention I love cake?:goodvibes

I highly recommend the coconut and key lime filling. It was delicious. I also love cake :thumbsup2

Those cakes look super cute!
I can't wait to hear about Via Napoli.

Coming right up! And yeah, the cakes were pretty adorable.

Joining in and wonderful start. I Love the cakes and too funny you both ordered from the same place. Did they deliver to the resort and may I asked how much?

Answered your question about the delivery, but thank you for joining in!

I am jumping in! popcorn::

I LOVE that your BF and my fiance have the same gourmet taste in Little Caesars.... we had a long distance relationship for two years, and he lived off of that pizza...

LOVE the cakes! Such a cute idea!! I wish I could find a bakery up here that would do a Disney cake for my wedding... they all won't touch Disney with a 10 foot pole because of copyright..

BUT I might need to order a cake for when we are there for our Honeymoon! :D

Ummm... are we the same person? My BF and I were in a long distance relationship for (almost) 2 years.
You should DEFINITELY order a honeymoon cake! You'll have earned it after a bunch of wedding planning!

Those cakes were amazing! I love the idea of ordering cakes for each other. :goodvibes

Can't wait to see the rest!

Thanks! Hope you enjoy!

After a much needed crash, Andrew and I woke up and excitedly went to Magic Kingdom. We had just enough time to go on Pirates before our reservation at Crystal Palace for breakfast! I thought we'd be the only big kids there, but the table next to us was 3 adults, so I didn't feel like quite as much of a nerd for making this reservation.

We waited maybe 5 minutes for our pager to buzz and were brought in by a sweet older lady who told us about the characters and all of that fun stuff. Our server was Frankie... His nametag said he was from Orlando but I lived in New Jersey for 8 years and I recognize a New York accent anywhere. He was nice... Andrew ordered Sprite and orange juice and Frankie didn't charge him for the second beverage (we were paying OOP for this reservation which ended up being a mistake but... oh well), which was cool. I had Diet Coke for my beverage because... it's an addiction of mine. And besides, I was on vacation. I'll have soda for breakfast if I want!

My first plate-
Disney070.jpg

Umm, what an egg fiend I am. If I'm not mistaken, that's (starting from the top middle and going clockwise) corned beef hash (not my favorite... it was too crumbly and I like my corned beef hash when it's crispy), puffed french toast (delicious... tastes like a hot, sugared donut), potato casserole (um, YUM), breakfast pizza (yes please!), scrambled eggs (pretty standard but tasty), breakfast potatoes (I think these had bacon in them... Oh, my heart is murmuring at me again) and some kid themed Pooh cobbler with peaches in it (kind of bland, although the peaches were good)

Andrew's first plate-
Disney071.jpg

Looks like he has a cinnamon bun, strawberries and whipped cream, puffed french toast, smoked salmon, peach cobbler and honeydew... I was SHOCKED that he got the smoked salmon since he's not big on seafood but he ate it all so it must have been good. Everything else got gobbled up so it must have all tasted fine!

My second plate-
Disney072.jpg

Biscuit and sausage gravy (I've never had it before and it is some TASTY stuff, but probably in the same vein as chili cheese fries, health wise), more potatoes, strawberries, more breakfast pizza, honeydew, mixed berries, and a piece of smoked salmon. I love having fruit so readily available for me to om nom nom on... This plate was also a success.

Andrew's second plate-
Disney073.jpg

Strawberry yogurt, sausage links, bacon strips, scrambled eggs, a Mickey waffle, a piece of toast with strawberry jam and some watermelon. The bowl on the right has brown sugar oatmeal... and it looks watery and nasty, but it actually tasted pretty delicious.

I'm mad at myself for not getting a Mickey waffle, but I was full :rotfl:

Crystal Palace had a nice variety of breakfast items... the characters were cute:

2hnyhdy.jpg

The service was good and the location is mega convenient. I would definitely go back.

Around 3:00 or so, we were getting pretty hungry, despite our pig out breakfast, but we also didn't want to get full before dinner at Via Napoli so we shared a late lunch at Columbia Harbor House. This place is great... they have malt vinegar for french fries! Yum! And the upstairs level is nice and quiet. We ordered the fried fish and chicken with fries, a fountain beverage (it was either my elixir of life or orange, Andrew's favorite) and the infamous apple crisp tart thing-

Disney102.jpg

Disney103.jpg

Everything tasted good, although I wish the fried fish was larger pieces and not just heavily battered sticks... but that's basically just preference. I live in Maine so we're weird about our seafood.

Even though we knew it wouldn't get eaten right away, we grabbed a cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery on the way to the monorail:

Disney104.jpg

Yeah, I just died and went to heaven.

On the way to the World Showcase, we went to Club Cool... The infamous Beverly didn't really phase us-- It tastes like this gross soda we have in Maine called Moxie... I wouldn't want to drink a big glass of it or anything but I wasn't losing my Columbia Harbor House or anything!

Disney106.jpg

Anyway, Via Napoli time! I've heard mixed things about this place but the pictures looked way too delicious for me to pass it up... Plus, I absolutely CRAVE good pizza.

So, we waited less than 5 minutes for our names to be called... Our reservation was for 7 so it was past peak dinner time but still hopping. I can't remember our server's name but he was gorgeous, so I'll just call him Hottie... It's fitting.

Andrew ordered the candele, which is basically baked ziti with meatballs and meat sauce:

Disney108.jpg

And I had the pepperoni pizza:

j6n49h.jpg

Andrew's was done faster than mine, and Hottie asked if it was okay to bring it out... I was fine with that... There was no reason for his meal to sit under a heat lamp! And I got to steal a bite! It was delicious... Meatballs are so easy to screw up but these were tender and flavorful.

My pizza was excellent... I put crushed red pepper and Parmesan cheese on it not because it was bland but because that's my preferred way to eat pizza. It looks like a pretty big portion and it was, but I wasn't like bursting to the gills because the crust is so thin.

Personally... If you're a deep dish pizza fan, this probably won't work for you but I love the smoky flavor that a wood burning oven gives to crust, so I was on board.

For dessert, Andrew had tiramisu-

Disney111.jpg

I don't like tiramisu, so I can't comment but he said it was good!

I had the Zeppole di Catarina which is... AMAZING. Fried ricotta fritters sounds kind of repulsive but the couple next to us ordered them and I was intrigued. They gave with chocolate sauce and real whipped cream, which is amazing. These were surprisingly light and crispy. I loved them.

Disney112.jpg

Wow, that picture is a joke :rotfl:

We decided to skip the fireworks and avoid the crowds getting home. We each had a Grey Goose slushie on the way out... I was too busy inhaling it to take a picture but everyone knows what they look like... They're AMAZING. I want a machine in my kitchen.

Up next... We forgot our camera but THANK GOD for Andrew's iPhone!!

Wonderful reviews and great for me as we have ADRs at Crystal Palace and Via Napoli on our next trip

I was kind of worried that we would look odd in CP as we don't have any kids with us but you have made me feel better about it :)

Just out of interest, why did you think it was a mistake to pay OOP for CP? as this is something I had considered

Those cakes were so adorable! You already have me drooling between the carrot cake cookie and the cinnamon roll...what can I say? I am sucker for diabetic-inducing goodies
:) Can't wait for the rest!

Thank you for the great reviews...

I'd love to find out where you had those cakes made - what a talented baker! They're gorgeous! :lovestruc

I am really enjoying your reviews for many reasons.
Those cakes are amazing and the coconut-key lime makes me want to get out my apron and try it!
I love that you compared the Beverly to Moxie! I don't like either, but it is a great comparison!
We have ressies at Via Napoli in March and I was glad to see that you had a great meal. I love pizza.
Looking forward to more popcorn::

I'm in. Your pics look fine. It's all about the food anyways. Thin crust pizza is the only way to eat pizza right?

Fantastic reviews so far! Looking forward to more! popcorn:: Oh and love the title by the way.

It ended up being a mistake because we were originally planning on paying OOP for two meals (the other being a Kona breakfast) but ended up canceling a ressie so we could eat around the World Showcase. We used a credit for Kona, and the total bill was cheaper than Crystal Palace. Oh well, lesson learned!

Love the reviews so far. Those cakes were gorgeous! :goodvibes

Thanks! They were such lovely decorations to come home to!

Great reviews! The pizza looks delicious!

Thank you... and it tasted pretty darn good too.

That pizza looks so good! :lovestruc
I can't wait to eat there when I go in December! :)

Hope you enjoy it!

I love a good thin crust pizza! That one looks delish!

Me too, and this one *was* delish!

Hahaha, in my day to day life... I crave sodium way more than sweets, but for some reason... I was all about the sugar on this vacation.

Thank you for the great reviews...

I'd love to find out where you had those cakes made - what a talented baker! They're gorgeous! :lovestruc

Buttercup Cakes in Kissimmee... Dani is the owner. She's really good about communication via email, and she also does cupcakes and stuff if you don't want a massive cake!

I am really enjoying your reviews for many reasons.

Where in Maine are you from?! You can PM me if you don't want to share on my thread. Let me know if you successfully make a coconut lime cake... it was truly delicious but I know if I tried to make it, I would screw it up.

I'm in. Your pics look fine. It's all about the food anyways. Thin crust pizza is the only way to eat pizza right?

Hahahaha, well... I do like me some deep dish pizza, but this was marvelous.

Fantastic reviews so far! Looking forward to more! popcorn:: Oh and love the title by the way.

My Tusker House photos are on Andrew's iPhone... Which is currently with him at work! We are currently being smacked with a crazy snow storm in Maine and so I'm at my mom's house because we're still moving into our new apartment.

Sooo... we'll just have to do Tusker House another time and this food report will be all out of order. That brings us to...

THE DARK SIDE AKA UNIVERSAL STUDIOS!

I realized like 3 days before we left that we had no plans for eating at Universal, but thankfully, most of their places don't require reservations during off-peak times. We just decided to wing it and it worked out fine.

We got to Islands of Adventure right at open and literally hoofed it to the Harry Potter section of the park... It was such blasphemy... Hulk literally was running with rows of empty seats.

After some rides, we decided to try Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice:

Disney139.jpg

The Butterbeer had like butterscotch foam and then really bland tasting cream soda underneath it... It was weird. We only bought one to share and didn't even finish it... But it was basically what I would have expected. The Pumpkin Juice was DELICIOUS... It tasted like apple cider, all tangy and tart, but with notes of pumpkin. Plus, the bottle is adorable.

We went to Honeydukes and spent a fortune... I got Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans and, naturally, don't have a picture of them but here's one of two boxes, stolen from the Internet:

ht9vmp.jpg

I haven't tried them yet because apparently they have flavors like toenails and rotten egg... Blech. I also got a chocolate frog, which I haven't opened yet but here's another stolen picture:

238aww.jpg

Pretty cool, although I don't know if it's REALLY worth ten bucks, hahahaha

Just in case I wasn't cracked out enough on sugar, I got a Cauldron Cake:

nxp1rc.jpg

It's like a little pot of chocolate cake, filled with mousse and drizzled with more chocolate. And um... wow. Delicious. And rich. I'm not a crazy chocoholic, but it was so cute that I had to get it and then devour it.

Rounding out the trip to Honeydukes, Andrew and I each got a piece of fudge... I really dropped the ball on Honeydukes photos, but Andrew remembered to take a picture of his, which was raspberry something:

Disney175.jpg

And mine was chocolate cheesecake. I didn't try his, but mine was okay. Cauldron cake was better.

Onto the real food... We decided to try Mythos to see if it lived up to all that 'Best theme park restaurant EVERRRRRRRRR!!!!!' hype.

We started with rosemary bread:

Disney146.jpg

Delicious. And way too much for two people. We had to force ourselves to stop eating it.

Here's a picture of the butter:

Disney147.jpg

Yeah, I took a picture of the butter but forgot to take a picture of my Honeydukes treats. Whatever, I do what I want :lovestruc

For our meals, I had the risotto of the day, which, shocker... changes every day! This one was steak medallions, spinach rice, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, red wine sauce and crispy onions cooked in hot sauce. It had mushrooms on it but, as I mentioned before... they're like the one food I seriously dislike, so I had them left off. Everything else sounded so good that I absolutely had to try it:

Disney150.jpg

:worship::worship::worship::worship: This was RIDICULOUS... and so reasonable! $15.95 for this generous portion of YUM. I ate the whole thing and wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the day... Seriously, this was like perfection.

Andrew had the grilled chicken club, which comes with ranch dressing and bacon. He paid like a 50 cent upcharge to have Parmesan fries:

Disney149.jpg

He wasn't losing his mind like I was about his meal, but then again... How hard is a chicken sandwich? He ate all of it, and those Parmesan fries are really delicious.

We didn't get dessert because we were STUFFED at this point, although that warm banana gooey cake looked seriously tempting.

We didn't eat again (crazy, I know) until we went all the way around to the Marvel section of Islands of Adventure, and Andrew got a churro. Ohhh, and guess who forgot to take a picture? Well, everyone knows what those bad boys look like... I was still ridiculously full so I passed on that.

We made our way to the original Universal park... I was starting to get hungry but I am PETRIFIED of seagulls (especially ones at tourist destinations... those rats are AGGRESSIVE) so I refused to eat anything that could get snatched out of my paws... By the time we got to The Mummy rollercoaster, I was starving. We had planned on dinner somewhere at Citywalk, so we shared some chili cheese fries, which I, of course, didn't take a picture of. The chili was sort of gross, but they were an okay heartburn-y snack. The coolest part of Richter's is their soda fountains... It's basically like a classy version of those flavor shots you can add to soda at convenience stores... They had something like 120 choices... And you could mix them all up. It was so awesome... We had a huge cup mixed with Sprite Zero Peach, Sprite Zero Raspberry and Hi-C orange... and then filled up the cup with Diet Grape Fanta on the way out.

We were being picked up at 8:15 to go back to Pop, so we decided to just do something quick at Citywalk for dinner. I, despite being a total idiot when it comes to sports, was pretty intrigued by the menu at NBA City but Andrew's reaction to that was basically 'For real?'... He wanted to go to Margaritaville but it was completely across the street so we settled on Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Laaaaaaaame, since it's a chain... but whatever. Andrew got his tequila fix with something called a Medal Margarita:

Disney189.jpg

I had Diet Pepsi, which is inferior to the Nectar of Life, but whatever. Obviously, no picture... and, for dinner, we shared the Shrimper's Heaven... It came with popcorn shrimp, tempura shrimp, 'chilly' shrimp (which was just peel and eat shrimp cocktail), coconut shrimp and fries:

Disney190.jpg

The presentation was cute-- Loved that it was served on newspaper... and although it was expensive, it was a massive portion-- Great for sharing! I think peel and eat shrimp are kind of a pain, but I ate most of them because they were quite delicious and Andrew LOVED the tempura shrimp.

By the time we got home, trouble was brewing... My right ear felt like someone had punched me in the side of the head and so I basically passed out. Andrew ate an entire tub of cotton candy from the Pop gift shop. Surprise... I DON'T HAVE A PICTURE!

Up next-- A day in EPCOT/The onset of Amanda's Plague

Loving your commentary and your reviews so far!! :D I am excited to hear your other reviews!!

Great to see your reviews from IOA

I loved the Butterbeer (frozen is best) but didn't enjoy the pumpkin juice at all

The cauldron cakes are really yummy aren't they :cloud9:

Like I mentioned in my last post, I went to bed after Universal feeling like the room was spinning. I woke up the next morning and my right ear was literally throbbing... It was AWFUL. But, I'm a trooper and I'd been planning this vacation for over a year... No painful ear was going to stop me from enjoying Epcot, which is definitely my favorite park.

We immediately headed to Soarin' and had a light breakfast at Sunshine Seasons... I inexplicably chose a banana, which is totally bizarre but I *was* feeling under the weather... and Andrew bought this monstrous pastry called an apple caramel crunch, or something like that:

Disney191.jpg

This was... weird. I think we both expected something light and apple-y, but it was a super dense base... even heavier than shortbread, and sporadically moist, probably from the apples... It didn't taste BAD but it was weird.

By the time we had done our second round of Soarin and all the other attractions in The Land, it was lunchtime and that apple caramel thing had NOT held us over... We had dinner reservations at 4:50, so we decided to eat sooner rather than later... I'd heard good things about Sunshine Seasons anyway and we were RIGHT there anyway!

I had chicken Caesar salad:

Disney194.jpg

Caesar salad is one of my favorite foods, and even though it's one of those junk foods wearing a health halo, it feels a less heavy than like... a huge plate of pasta. Totally hit the spot... The chicken had that nice grilled taste and wasn't dry. I loved that it had real shreds of Parmesan on it too.

And for dessert, the much loved strawberry shortcake:

Disney195.jpg

This is not a traditional strawberry shortcake... whether that means biscuits or angel food cake to you... It's hard to explain but it reminded me of vanilla cake layered with the fluffiest whipped frosting and fresh strawberries. Horrible description... but trust me... Delicious, and deserving of the hype.

Andrew had sweet and sour chicken with rice and broccoli:

Disney192.jpg

He loves plain white rice but even he had to admit that mixing the sauce and the rice equaled win... and I assume this was good, since he ate just about all of it.

For dessert, he had key lime pie:

Disney193.jpg

I had no recollection of his reaction on this so I asked him last night and he said, very enthusiastically, that it was DELICIOUS. So, I would say that, with the exception of our weird breakfast pastry, Sunshine Seasons was a hit.

Amazingly, I'm going to say that we didn't eat anything else until our dinner reservation... If we did, it must not have been anything too special.

Onto Le Cellier... We had to wait maybe 5 minutes for our names to get called. A guy tried a walk-up and they flatly turned him down... It was kind of funny, because they weren't even nice about it. Actually, the hosts seemed to be kind of grumpy, in general. It didn't matter to me because we interacted with them for about 5 seconds, and our server was a sweetheart, but I bet other pickier people will have stuff to say about that.

Yes, so moving on... Our server was named Ashley... She was great... Friendly, personable but not standing over me while I chewed. And she turned my Diet Coke into a Hidden Mickey:

Disney204.jpg

Loved it.

Andrew had a red maple to drink, which is completely fabulous... Raspberry and Sprite is a winning combo:

Disney205.jpg

We'd heard so much hoopla about the cheddar cheese soup that we knew we'd have to try it... Unoriginal, yes... but crazy delicious. Maybe I'm just easily impressed but I was in heaven:

Disney206.jpg

We tried all three of the breads... I didn't care for the sourdough but the multigrain and pretzel were tasty... Andrew was all about the pretzel... so Ashley brought us out a couple more of those... In retrospect, one breadstick would have been MORE than adequate! :rotfl:

Disney207.jpg

For dinner, Andrew had the coffee rubbed Kansas city strip steak with cream cheese mashed potatoes, cooked medium:

Disney208.jpg

Andrew isn't exactly a steak eater, so I'm not sure if he was *actually* as keen on this as he said he was. Last night, when we were looking at the pictures, he said he probably wouldn't order this again... but he ate a lot of it while we were out. So... mixed bag? I guess?

I had the mushroom filet sans mushrooms and cream cheese mashed potatoes, cooked medium rare:

Disney209.jpg

:worship: Whoever had the fat kid idea to put butter on steak... I salute you. The butter from the steak sort of seeped onto the potatoes as I cut into it and it made them even creamier and rich. I gave this meal an enthusiastic HELL YES... Perfectly cooked and every speck of meat was edible... No gristle or any of that nasty business.

I *did* notice that the food was on the salty side... I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it except I'd read a few comments here and there about how salty everything was. I happen to be kind of a sodium addict, so it wasn't a big deal, but it's worth noting.

Even though I was full, I ordered the bumbleberry cobbler with cheesecake ice cream for dessert (It's not on the Allears menu)

Disney210.jpg

I went with this because bumbleberry (blueberry/raspberry, for those who don't live in the sticks like we do) is one of my favorites, and I'd already eaten like 3029842984 calories worth of cream cheese, so why not have some more with cheesecake ice cream?

I think there were some apples or peaches in this, which I wasn't expecting.. and they were still on the crunchy side... Not nearly as soft as the berries. That was kind of a letdown... But the sweet and creamy ice cream mixed with the tart berries and oatmeal crumb topping... Well, THAT was a winner.

Andrew had the s'mores-

Disney211.jpg

I know for a fact that he was more in awe over the presentation than the taste... He didn't say it was gross or anything, but I could just tell.

By the time dessert rolled around, I was starting to feel like death... I was FREEZING cold and my throbbing ear had turned into a stabbing pain. The original plan was to hang out at the Showcase until the fireworks, but I made it to France, bought a chocolate croissant at the bakery, and decided that I, regrettably, was done for the day.

There's no picture of the croissant, but I'm to be forgiven because I was sick. IN DISNEY WORLD :confused:

Up next-- Can Amanda make it to California Grill?

Thanks for the great LC review

Your desserts look wonderful. I hope your earache didn't last too long :goodvibes

Great review of LeCellier-- your filet looks amazing! My favorite cut of meat!
