WITH THE PRICES OF DRINKS IN THE PARKS DOES ANYONE BRING ANY FROM HOME?I WAS THINKING OF BRINGING A COUPLE OF CASES OF DRINKS ON THE PLANE ALONG WITH SOME SNACKS,HAS ANYONE DONE THIS ?IS IT ALLOWED TO BRING IT ON THE PLANE? TRAVELING WITH DH,DD,DSX2 IT GETS VERY EXPENSIVE.

Here's what I suggest - what I did on our trip to Disney last fall:

Box up and mail non-perishible food (stuff like crackers, pop tarts, raisins, animal crackers, etc. - not drinks - they are too heavy and the cost for shipping skyrockets) down to your resort ahead of time. I also mailed along diapers/wipes/other toiletries that we would use up and know I didn't have to lug back home. I packed it up io a large empty Dell computer box from work and shipped it FedEx for about $10. (I mailed it directly to CBR and put a note on the outside "Please Hold: with our last name, reservation #, and date of arrival. ) It was SO nice not to be lugging all that stuff to and from the airport and they just brought the box right to our room when we called for it after arriving.

For drinks, have your airport transpotation stop at a local grocery store. We picked up alcoholic beverages, but I also recommened buying juice boxes, milk, fruit/ etc.- as they quite expensive when buying single servings at the resorts/restaurants every day.

We were lucky in that a coworker of my husbands picked us up at the airport and transported us to the store and lent us their cooler. But if we hadn't had them, I was planning to buy a large soft-sided cooler on wheels at Wal-Mart and use it as luggage, then empty it at the resort and fill it with the perishibles.

If you don't already, find a town car service which includes a grocery stop as your transportation from the resort to the airport -and use it- it really helps save ALOT of money in your food budget.

We have not brought stuff on the plane. Either we take advantage of the free grocery stop with the limo service or if we have a car we go to the store and stock up. We usually get the sports cap bottles and refill them when they run out. Each night we would re-fill them and put them in the freezer for the next day. We also bought some sodas, milk, & juice.

Right now what Im thinking about doing is bringing some food and drinks with us. Im going to break up a case of water and pack it the luggage. (We wont be able to make a grocery stop) Then I bought water bottles with freezer cores to bring into the park, along with some snacks to sustain us through the day. My ds9 is a picky eater and goes from full to "starving to dead" in about 5 sec so in order to keep him from whining and maintain my sanity Im going to need provisions lol

Just a helpful hint. If you are flying, some airlines have a weight limit on each suitcase. I made the mistake of packing the largest suitcase with our heavy stuff and USAir told me it was over the 50lb limit. They let me go on the way down and when I repacked it for the way back it must have been ok b/c they did not mention it again.
Also, just think of all the stuff you can bring back if you eat/drink the food you bring down. LOL

Just a note, I read somewhere that Disney resorts were no longer taking packages for guests.

They still do this. I just called AS to double check since we will probably send a few things down. The girl said that we should send the package UPS or Fedex a few days before, because those packages come directly to the hotel, and she gave me the address. Regular mail goes through a different system. Call the front desk of your hotel and ask them for the address, as each hotel's is different.

There is always the Super-Walmart if you are renting a car!! I went for the first time on my last trip - and as an added bonus we found a Krispy Kreme bakery!!

I packed a bunch of snacks (whatever would fit in an empty huggies wipes container). I put a bunch of juice/parmalot boxes in my DD1's diaper bag to carry on and put a gallon size ziploc bag of snacks in there as well, and a ziploc of only cheerios. This way, if our baggage was delayed or lost, or DD or we were hungry on the plane, we had some emergency stuff. We then did a grocery stop (2X during our 14 day trip) with our rental car for baby food, water, and drinks. We ended up having to lug snacks home, of course, and left the water/soda in the room.
