my family will be in Magic Kingdom all day and I think it will be a good idea to get out during dinner to a nearby resort to eat. I'm mostly interested in a resort that we can get to by monorail. Are all food courts basically the same? Are their some better than others? What do you recommend? Thanks!!

I have gone to the Contempo Cafe at CR a few times on our last trip. I found the food pretty good there. Also it is just a short walk from the park so if you don't feel like waiting for the monorail you don't have to wait.

The monorail resorts don't really have "food courts" like they do at other resorts (unless the Contemporary has one). They do have quick service restaurants that aren't really the same. We enjoyed Captain Cook's the Polynesian but it can get really busy in the evenings

All 3 monorail resorts have quick service restaurants that are pretty good. We like the Contempo Café and as someone mentioned earlier- it's a quick walk to the contemporary. It has lots of options but it's not really a "food court".

Captain Cooks at Poly is pretty good if you want something different and to check out a resort. Otherwise I'd suggest going to the plaza for dinner where you can get a table service meal at counter service prices.

Pardon my ignorance, but where and what is the plaza?

The Plaza is a table service restaurant on Main St. at MK. It serves sandwiches, burgers, etc. and ice cream. We really enjoy it.

I second The Plaza restaurant, just for that reason - table service with QS prices. The food there is so good and you wouldn't have to leave MK. It is a gem!

Google search says The Plaza is permanently closed?!

I did a Google search for "Plaza Restaurant Disney" and it certainly doesn't say it is closed.
I really enjoyed my lunch there is October
Good Luck

But you'll need reservations for a meal. If you aren't on the dining plan The Plaza is a good deal out of pocket - only costs $1-2 more per person than a quick service restaurant and much more relaxed.

Thank you for the tip! I will definitely keep it in mind the next time I am at MK. We are so done with the DDP, but always looking for great places out of pocket. And a place that is relaxing to boot? Well then that is bliss.
