If not on the dining plan, what is your daily budgeted amount for food?

food is expensive...i'd plan on 35-40 for 2 adults for ts breakfast, lunch, close to double that for dinner( including tip and tax)for basic meal, not the most expensive thing and 2 courses.
counter probably $25 for 2

I was thinking about $100 per day for just DS 7 and I - some chara dinenrs etc. am I budgeting far too much for this or . . . ?

Only 6 more sleeps :cheer2:

For my family of four, I typically budget $20 for breakfast, $40 for lunch and $60 for dinners. I add in $20 a day for snacks/drinks so it comes out to about $140 a day for food. We typically come in under budget...but I like to prepare for worst case scenerio. We enjoy eating!! :flower:

hmm - how can you do 4 people on $20 for breakfast, can that be done?

I will leave my budget around $100 per day just to be on the safe side . ..

also I think we will spend more at lunch then dinner , cause htat is when i have our "big meals" planned

we usually unfortunately go over on our food budget due to all the good looking snacks!!!.you might be over since your son is still a kid's rate but i'd leave it so if you want a treat you aren't breaking the bank. we actually spent almost 20 a day on snacks and drinks( we usually only eat 2 meals a day) some days we spend more some days less. i have noticed most of the posters on the dining plan would have spent between 70-100 on dinners with only 2 or 3 people so i don't think our budget was out of line.

we also eat our big meal at lunch usually and I think the 20 for bfk has to be cs and maybe splitting some meals since the platters are usually around 7 I think even at counter

i found some old( jan of 04) receipts for 2 adults...
Beirgarten lunch,46.09,
whispering canyon dinner 53.70.(no dessert or appe here, jsut entree and pop. think this is dinners since brft would have been closer to 20)
fish and chip take out 20.36 ,( eating round the world so don't know if this is a coke to)
bouangerie 11.61 and 10.97 ( snacks)
starring rolls snack 9.55,
scifi lunch for 1burger, i bowl of soup and 2 cokes 24.46
ohana 61.10( nothing extra here either)
trail end brkfst 25.28( imo great value for any meal)
rose and crown pub for 1 beer, 1 coke 11.31

yes, I think we willbring $100 per day for food/snacks

then save up what we dont use, and the day we leave (plance leaves at 9pm) we are going to Downtown Disney so we can shop :)

My GF and I were there in March. I had budgeted $100 per day for food. This included snacks too. Some days we spend less and some days we spent more but on average it was $100.

Most days we had CS Breakfast, CS Lunch and TS Dinner. Sometimes we had Character Bfast, Snack and TS Dinner.

But for 2 adults I would budget about $100. Keep in mind that we did not order alcoholic beverages.

One hundred per day for one adult and one child sounds reasonable, unless you plan on 3 sitdowns a day. We typically budget about $50 per person. We have a sitdown dinner every night, at least 1 buffet breakfast and then the rest is counter service. The adults usually only eat breakfast, snack then dinner but with kids they usually want lunch. You and your son could probably split an adult counter service brakfast and/or lunch, if he isn't a big eater.

I budget $150 a day for DW and I. We usually do 1 or 2 TS a day. I must say that the DDE card has helped save a lot. Well not save, I just give it back to the mouse in other ways. Maine :firefight

Breakfast for $20 a day...we are not big breakfast eaters. A danish and drink each, or fruit and a yogurt is all we need to start the day. I did a sample breakfast at POR's foodcourt and this is what I came up with:

Kids breakfast meals $3.59x2
Adult breakfast platter $5.59
Oatmeal for me $2.29
I added $5 for drinks which equals $20.26

We are not into character meals, so that saves a bit on our food budget. We plan to eat at POR food court for most breakfasts, Boatwrights for breakfast on our last day (sweet potato pancakes...yum!), Sci-Fi, Cosmic Rays, Pinochios, Plaza, Yorkshire Fish Shop. We'll save our expensive eating for the cruise...where it's free! :rotfl:

If you plan on returning to WDW in the near future, why not experiment. Budget what the Dining Plan cost per person (35 bucks for ages 9 and over, 11 bucks for 3-9).

Keep a list of what you can buy on that money in the parks and report back!

We are budgeting $700 for 7 days for 2 adults-- that consists of:

1. All breakfasts eaten in our rooms (we're off-site, so we're getting bread, cereal, etc)

2. Only counter-service lunch for 6 days at the parks.

3. 4 of 7 dinners at nice restaurants (Cali Grill, Yachstman, etc). The other 3 dinners at McD's and such. :)

I tend to do about $75.00 a day, just for myself. Now, I never, ever spend that much, usually do one CS and one TS per day, including some really nice ones. Part of my budget includes the occasional glass of wine/beer/margarita (Or 3) that can leave a huge dent in the budget. DDE helps a lot too.

We have ADR's for our four nights so I looked at their menu to get a rough estimate on total expense. Lunch I budgeted $30/day for 2 adults and one 12 year old, $80 for breakfast (we'll probably skip or have very light one 1-2 of the days) and another $50 for snack and water. Hope that is helpful.

We usually spend about $120-$160 a day for DH, Me and DD (4). We tend to eat at least 2 TS meals a day though. Normaly on a 10 night trip we spend about $1500 on food.

I think that it just depends on what kind of a eater you are. We were there with 3 kids in June and spent roughly $1000 on food for 10 days. I had ADR for everyday but we didn't use them all. The kids preferred going to the food court at the resort for dinner.
My DH and I are going at the end of October and we will probably spend $100-$150 a day because we are planning on doing TS meals and we will be sampling stuff at the F&W festival. We probably will only eat 2 meals a day.

Last year in two days, with just me and my boyfriend, we spent (approximately, receipts aren't handy):

Breakfast at Main Street Bakery- $15.00
Lunch at Columbia Harbor House- $12.00
Slushes in Tomorrowland $8.00
Drinks at Tambu Lounge $40.00
Dinner at 'Ohana- $50.00
Breakfast at Fountainview Bakery $16.00
Snacked in several countries in Epcot, with several drink stops $70.00
Dinner at Sci Fi, with drinks- $80.00
"Dessert" at Sunset Sweet Shoppe- $10.00

Total $301.00, about $75.00 per person, per day

I think it depends on if you want counter service or table service primarily, whether or not you drink alcohol, have snacks, etc. 50-100 dollars per person per day is average.
