I think you are allowed to bring food into the parks, right? If so what size cooler can you bring in? Does it have to be a soft cooler? If we can save some money by doing this it would be great.

You can bring in food. No glass containers. The cooler must be soft-sided and not have wheels.

The enforcement of this is quite varied. I have seen wheeled coolers in the park. Personally, I can't fathom wheeling a cooler through the park but I've seen it. And I've seen small hard side coolers in strollers.
And remember, no straws at AK, so watch boxed or bagged drinks.
I do believe they allow glass baby food jars but I'm not 100% on that.

Yes, I've seen the wheeled hard sided coolers in parks as well but I wouldn't count on getting it in so don't plan on it. A PP noted the measurement limits and soft sided coolers are best anyway since you can "mold" those when you need to.

The only glass containers that are allowed are baby food jars. So, don't take a jar of pickles as you will have to discard that. Also, no alcohol can be brought in to the Disney parks and only unopened containers can be taken out of Disney parks. And unopened doesn't mean with a lid on top.

I also would suggest not taking bags of things but containers of snacks so they don't get crushed. It would be advisable if you are doing sandwiches to make those ahead of time and then use a frozen bottle of water for your ice. I would also advise that every member of your group have their own bag of some sort (waist packs work nice) where they store anything that doesn't need to be cooled down. So Jimmy can have his pretzels to snack on while Mary has her potato chips and each can have their favorite candy bar and Mom and Dad don't have to stop when the kids get the munchies. Oh - popcorn is also a good snack although, quite honestly, I would splurge and get a bucket of the Disney popcorn and do that. Husband refuses any popcorn except the Disney stuff.

I've seen hard sided wheeled coolers too, but since WDW says they are not supposed to be allowed in, I don't know the odds on your getting a CM at the gate that will let you take it in.
