Food at Planet Hollywood at DTD that bad????

Went there for our first time and we weren't impressed. Even with the coupon we didn't think it was worth it. Of course we were on the DDP so we had to pay out of pocket. Would have rather tried Wolfgang Puck Express for a free counter service.

You could have used a TS credit and skipped the coupon

We have ate at Planet Hollywood a couple of times. Our kids like the atmosphere but the food has been average at best. Last time down we skipped PH at went to Wolfgang Pucks in DTD. That was by far our best meal of the trip. Great service and great food, but it was quite pricey.

We always like Planet Hollywood. It isnt anything special but it is a LOT of tasty, stuff-your-face style food.

If nothing else go for starters and nothing else. The Texas Tostados and the Captain Crunch Chicken are amazing :thumbsup2

We liked it. Tried it as a change to the usual visit to Rainforest Cafe and made a nice dinner. ::yes:: The memorabillia is very amusing. I love the atmosphere.

During our January visit I wound up with two sets of travel documents including two of the vouchers. PH honored both, saving us $30 off of our meal!

our only problem, and i am surprised no one has mentioned it yet, is that the tables are right on top of each other. having said that, the comfort food items are more than satisfactory and of course there is a lot of rubbernecking to be done.
This was my biggest complaint. Servers kept bumping into DS and I, and bumping into our plates! Our table for two was so small that our plates were very close to the edges and passing servers actually kept bumping into them. We were in the middle of the floor, sort of, with other rows of tables on either side of us. We wouldn't go back for that reason alone. Our server wasn't so good either, but our food was okay. Not spectacular or gourmet, but good enough for us. DS had ribs and I had a club sandwich. I can't recall what our appetizers were.

During our 10-day trip, Planet Hollywood was our least favorite restaurant. Here's a laundry list of our experience:

- Tables way too close together. When the hostess pointed out our table, we should have left immediately. You literally couldn't pull the chair out even one inch without a lot of effort and getting the people around it to slide their chairs a little. The hostess just stood there impatiently while we figured out how to sit down.

- Way too noisy. I've been to loud places, but this was ridiculously loud. You might expect that volume at a bar or a place with live music, but not at a restaurant frequented by families who might like to chat.

- Extremely rude waiter. He immediately wanted to know if we were on the DDP and wanted to see a card. Upon seeing that we had 3 adults and one child on the DDP, he informed us that we were required to order everything we were entitled to on the plan. When we ordered only 2 appetizers, he TOLD us we had to order a 3rd. There was nothing our 11 year old wanted and the guy actually argued with us. When our 11 year old wanted to order off the kid's menu, the waiter said no (actually he wanted a hamburger bun, no meat, and a side of fries so I could make him a peanut butter sandwich with the PB I brought - mildly autistic kid, very picky so we make allowances). The guy was just plain nasty. He wanted us to order everything we had coming to raise the bill and, thus, his 18% tip (this was in 06 when tipping was automatic).

- Clumsey waiter - He "accidentely" dumped a dish of salsa on the table which splattered on my son and me. He didn't even apologize or offer to bring extra napkins. He was practically holding the plate sideways so it was bound to happen.

- Really bad food. I ordered a Cobb Salad. It had wilted lettuce, slimy turkey and cubes of cheese (don't Cobbs usually have crumbled bleu cheese?). I hardly ate any. It was just bad.

I would never go there again. It was probably the worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant. The night before we had been to Le Cellier, which we loved. There was just no comparison between the two.
