Food at Lookout Cay

Now that the fly situation appears to have been solved and there have been multiple cruises stopping at Lookout Cay, I’d be interested in hearing more about the food options. I’m also interested in how the allergy meals are being handled, particularly for gluten free diners.

So, lets hear about the island lunch, since the menu appears to be different from the Castaway Cay selections.

If you have allergies, talk to your server the night before your stop at lighthouse point. You can order a custom meal that can be picked up at True-True Too.
Disney offers the same service at Castaway. Just make sure to talk to your server ahead of time
Well aware of that, with over 30 DCL cruises completed, including many stops at CC. I’m interested in what cruisers who have been to LC have to say about the food and experience, since it’s different from that offered on Castaway.

Not sure if this will answer your allergy question, but it's a great overall review!

Thanks. Read that when it was posted. There’s a single paragraph that actually addresses the food and a second that talks about the flies. So those reflect the first-day problems with food preparation and service. I’m hoping for an evaluation of the (post-fly-issues) offerings from recent cruisers who have eaten a typical island lunch rather than first-day samples of the new offerings outside the standard barbecue fare.

I've been following because I am also curious to hear about the FOOD. I think we'll have to wait until more people go to report back. Even though the fly issue seems to be solved, no one has been able to get past it, ,yet. I can understand is it sounded (and looked) awful. Hopefully, soon, there will be some updated reports!

yes. plenty of reports after the inaugural cruise that the problem had first decreased and now after a few more cruises apparently eliminated (solved). lets hope don’t want to completely derail from the OP’s topic, but does anyone know how Disney solved the fly problem?

That's my question, too. We are booked on a cruise stopping there in January. After the original videos, my husband and I are planning to remain on the ship (I can roll with a lot of things, bugs in my food are not one of them!) I am curious to hear how this situation was so dramatically changed, and I am definitely going to need to see videos demonstrating proof of a bug-free luncheon area.

I have been multiple times and can guarantee the fly situation is under control. There is no need to worry about flies anymore. Don’t stay onboard, you’ll be missing a wonderful experience

Do you have any idea how DCL took care of it? I’m just wondering what they could do in an open-air facility!

Are veggie burgers or tofu an option? At CC you have to ask for a veggie or impossible burger

We were told they used invisible netting over the area. We were on the Fantasy with 2 stops and we didn't find ANY flies the 2nd trip.

I haven’t seen veggie or tofu burgers but I did have the curry last time I was there and it was delicious

What the heck is ‘invisible’ netting? Over the entire open air pavilions? Sounds sketchy. I suspect a continued use of a lot of chemical pesticides, especially if it got solved so quickly.
