You have heard incorrect information. The food is very good. People just need to adjust their minds around the fact that all food in Hawaii is expensive.

Everyone’s budget is so different. Off the Hook has a lot of good options (which includes pool side), the Malasadas for breakfast from the Olelo room, Ulu cafe, mamas fish shack….

We always get a room with a kitchen and go to Foodland Farms to get food while there as a money saver.

We also like Ama Ama, Mina’s at 4 Season’s, and Longhi’s at Marriott.

The Mai Thai at Moneky Pod was good, but it very crowded and my wife’s food was undercooked.

We also are just fine with the food at ABC store.

Off the Hook has good options and hasn't let us down.

We rate Ulu Cafe's food and choices far better than any quick-service restaurant at the deluxe resorts at WDW or DL. We love the Acai Bowl and Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich for breakfast. At lunch and dinner, we chose the Poke Bowl and hot entrees. Although mediocre, we end up eating pizza once a week.

We love the character breakfast at Makahiki, especially the malasadas, pancakes, and Loco Moco.

We enjoy the appetizers at Oleleo Room and end up turning it into a dinner.

We enjoy the entrees at Off the Hook.

We've never tried dinner at Makahiki or Ama Ama. We feel the prices are too outrageous, and we are not foodies.

Offsite, we love the several choices of Japanese food in Kapolei and Waikiki.

We found the food at the ABC Store to be pretty good and they had plenty of options. We ate there several times, the loco moco was a standout. We also enjoyed the malasadas at the Olelo Room on more than one occasion. My wife raves about the acai bowls at Ulu. We enjoyed the character breakfast, especially the ube waffles & pancakes. We had a really good dinner at Monkey Pod, the big hit was the Saimin Soup.
