I want to squeeze in a Princess dinner before my DS5 and DS2 are old enough to complain about it being too "girly". ;) How is the food at Akershus? I have a group of pretty non-picky eaters - what would you recommend for dinner? :confused3

Akershus doesn't have the princess dinner, just breakfast I think. If you want a princess dinner, I suggest 1900 Park Fare.

Alkershus has a princess breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All princessess all the time!

That said, we found the dinner there to be less than good. Dinner at Ikea is better. Sorry I can't offer any recomendations, none of us were really crazy about what we ordered.

The princesses are great though!

The food at breakfast is MUCH better.

Not true. I have a dinner reservation for Akershus and there are supposed to be Princesses there breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Here is a link to the Mom's Panel addressing this issue this past June. http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.c...e=search&sort=&page=&qid=47063&pid=80&cid=146

So unless something has changed there ARE princesses there for dinner. I HOPE nothing has changed! If it has then I need to get on the phone with a CM about my ADR ASAP!!!

We went in October 2007 and really enjoyed the starter, salamis, cooked meats, fish, smoked salmon, fruit on a buffet and loved the desserts but found the main courses to be mixed.

the meatballs are definitely reminiscent of the £3 variety at Ikea but DH loved his salmon and shell fish and the two children enjoyed their grilled chicken. We went for breakfast in February and much preferred the food.

Character interaction is excellent though, one of our favourites and for this reason I am going to give dinner another go for our children's surprise trip this October.

We went for dinner August 2008. The princesses were wonderful! We also quite enjoyed our food. The starter buffet was a very nice selection of deli meats, cheeses, smoked seafood and fruit if I recall. We all got different meals and everybody's was quite nice. I think my DH got some kind of meatloaf which just ok (why would anybody order a meatloaf at a restaurant?) but my step-daughters and I ordered more interesting dishes and they were wonderful. My daughter with food allergies was treated like royalty and was brought out a fruit platter big enough to be an adult meal plus a chocolate chip muffin that had been made just for her (the chef called us at home before our trip to discuss her likes and dislikes) plus he made amazing chicken strips and hand cut crispy potato strips (I swear she got enough food to make up 2 adult meals; she is an adult by Disney standards). Desserts IMO were just mediocre but that's because the tastes aren't to my liking; they were excellent quality (my allergy daughter had an amazing allergy safe brownie sundae).

We have done dinner there twice with 2DS and all have enjoyed it. The first year we had the venison stew and last year I think I had the salmon-kids had the standard kid fare of pizza but no complaints from us

We were there for dinner earlier this month and the mustard glazed salmon (served with roasted red potatoes and roasted orange and yellow carrots) was INCREDIBLE. Really top notch stuff. We were surprised to find such good food at a meal most people go to just for the characters. It was some of the best food we ate.

The buffet and desserts were pretty good, some variety but not a ton, not incredibly unique or imaginative but still very good quality for what it was.

ETA: and yes, there were princesses. Belle was the greeter and Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, and Ariel in the dining room. Character interaction was great.

The princesses are there for all meals. We went for dinner, and really thought it was one of the best character MEALS we had.

Do you get a free picture package here? Is that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? I was looking at one site and it only mentioned the pictures during berakfast.

Yes the pictures are included in the dinner package. Princesses last week when we were there for dinner were: Aurora, Ariel, Snow White and Jasmine. Pictures were with Belle.

We enjoyed the meal. I had the salmon and my daughter and son in law had the beef tips.

Thanks for the suggestion, TillyMarigold, I really like salmon (and so does my DH)! BTW, I have really been enjoying reading your dining report! :goodvibes

Hmm, that makes two of you. It sounds like the salmon is a winner! Thank you! :thumbsup2

The dinner itself was extremely disappointing. Very bland - probably the worst meal all week.

The cold appetizer buffet though... absolutely tasty! Worth the admission price to me.

What did you order? I want to make sure I don't order bland food!
