Food and Wine -- Opening Day vs. Friday?

I am trying to figure out my park days for a trip the last week of August. I would like to eat a "meal" by snacking around the world showcase food kiosks at the Food and Wine festival but the only two days it is running during my trip are the opening day (Thursday Aug 31) and the first Friday of the festival, which also happens to be the start of Labor Day weekend. Conventional wisdom tells me to stay far away on a Friday and in the evenings, but is opening day at lunch time just as bad? When would you chose to go if these two days were your only choices?

Possibly relevant info: I'm not a foodie, but I expect there would be a few food kiosk items I'd like to try. I'll be traveling with my DH who feels the same way about the F&W festival (interested to see the kiosks, but not something we timed our visit around) and two elementary aged kids who couldn't care less.

I would stick with Thursday. Our trip is 9/19-9/24 and we originally planned EP for Saturday but changed our days around so we could go on Thursday instead. F7W on weekends brings out a lot of the locals.
