thanks so much...I found that site last night and bookmarked it.

I realize I have plenty of time, as I have read where some folks try to get ready in just 12 weeks.....I will check out some more threads!!!

I am not a very good napper either.

Just go on Ellen's Energy Adventure. If you body needs sleep you won' be able to fight it and get a 40 minute power nap.:thumbsup2 At least that has been my experience.

So would it be bad to get up and do the 5k. Go back and shower. Head to Epcot and enjoy the food and wine and then do the Half? LOL

Oh and then enjoy the "Extra" party time????

I'm so excited for this one.

My DH prefers the American experience or the Hall of Presidents for his napping time. ;)

this race sounds so fun in theory but not sure how i feel about running 13.1 miles starting at 10 pm at night. i also wonder how long they plan on keeping the party open if the start is so late..i mean even if you are an average runner at a 10 minute mile you wont finish until 12:30 or so (assuming it takes about 15 mins or so t cross the start) not to mention how late the walkers will be out there! plus, for me to fully run 13.1 is a big deal at this point in my running "career." the last half marathon i finished all i wanted was a bagel, hot shower, and sleep asap n that order...i can't really imagine wanting to walk around epcot in my sweaty running gear drinking wine and eating little tastings. this race is probably better suited for the season marathoner who can comfortably run 13.1, the way i can comfortably run 5-6 miles now. of course the relay is an option, but i can't really justify a huge trip for like 6.5 miles

plus not going to lie...i really want to do the nikes women race in san fran as well for the tiffanys necklace :lmao:

You made some great points, all of which I never thought about! So for me Yes in theory, I want to do it - but after your post I am 2nd guessing myself and to know that the sign ups are next week is crazy!!

For me, this race is perfect. I'm a night owl and love the idea of running late at night, then sleeping late in the morning. I am absolutely thrilled that they are having an event that doesn't mean getting up at 4am. :goodvibes And, I'm a walker.

I really should change my username to "Perpetual Lurker"...

Been reading a bit about this race for a few weeks. Actually, I naively made my DVC reservation for 26 Sept-8 Oct 2010, then noticed this race was going on right in the middle of my planned stay. How convenient is that?!?

I've just recently gotten back into running, and am doing about 15 miles a week now (5 days, 3 miles). Trying to avoid injuries. This may just be the ticket to keeping me motivated to running through the cold, snowy winter months!

My brother, who is afflicted with severe fibromyalgia, will be visiting with me at WDW, so whether I/we attend the after-party is not critical (or may be improbable). The event itself, however, sounds like a good challenge for me and a lot of fun right in the middle of vacation, too.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and register and work towards the goal of making it happen. Maybe by then I'll meet a few more WISH'ers here and we can encourage each other right through race night!

Personally, I need this goal...;)

I am down for F & W anyway, may have to adjust/tweak my dates a bit...will do a split stay so I can save DVC pts Fri and Sat..

The Wine & Dine is what got me thinking ...I am hoping to be a better 'walker' by then....currently at the gym on the TM walking 4 mph...average...just need to keep it up.

I did sign up for my FIRST ever walk/race...the Jinge Bell Race/Walk 5 K in my area...12/5..very excited about it's a start...ordered some new shoes from Sierra trading Post.com..(great deals there for the runners here!)
I, too, am a night owl!

After alot of thought, I am going to sign up on Monday - the day it starts!!

I am doing the princess, and this will be a great way to keep me going and continued training.

As a mom of 4, I have a great DH who supports me running even though I wont be the first one or the last one who completes the race!!

If we can have our kids with us at the transition spot for the relay this would rock. We could all four do the 5K in the morning and then DH and I could do the relay that night. Something tells me probably no, though...

Does anyone see a price for the 5K or is that included in the half registration? If I can find a cheap flight and someone to room with I might be up for this. I'm going to keep my eye on how quickly it starts to fill up and decide.

Disney doesn't like to post race prices until registration opens. My guess would be $40 as that is there standard charge.

My question is how much are the extra "tastes" and "sips" other than the one each you get for your $135 entry. This race is $15 more than other Halfs.

I see the party goes to 3:00 am.

Ouch! The prices just keep going up :(

Becky

Don't forget to add at least the regular F&W prices you would pay normally in Epcot. This means another $20-$25 on top of $135 reg fee.

I am thinking of doing the 5K through MK(probably $40) and take the extra $95 and spend a full day at F&W instead of the only 1 1/2 hrs I would have at the post race party after finishing the Half. Does this make sense?
