Food and Wine Festival Start Date

HI! My family is again planning a last minute trip and we wanted the free dining. So as of right now the latest we can start our trip is 9-3. Does anyone know if the food and wine festival ever starts early? Like a soft opening or anything? I was just wondering if I needed to plan a day at Epcot at the end of the trip. Thanks!

Expect it to be running September 19 to November 10, 2014.

Offiicial start date is September 19, and that's with it opening a week earlier than usual. It has not and likely will not start as early as September 3.

the only "soft opening" they do is a "cast preview" (although you don't have to be cast to buy anything) that occurs on the day before the official opening and involves only the World Showcase kiosks (the Festival Center has been open, but only to Disney cast members). This year that would be on Thursday, September 18 if they carry on as usual.
