I saw references in a few different places about putting money on a card to eat and drink your way through the Food and Wine Festival (we are going this year!!!!! ) Can anyone tell me what that is exactly and where we get the card and is it worth it? Thanks!!!!! :confused3

Specifically, I don't know what you're referring to, but would a Disney Gift card work for your needs? That's the only thing that I've heard of others "putting $ on" for vacation spending....

It's a variation of the Gift Card. You give them an amount of money, up to $1500 I believe, the card is small and it fits on a wrist-lanyard and they just quickly swipe it at the F&W kiosk and you get a receipt showing what you just paid and how much is left on the card. If you work it down and then swipe for an amount greater than what's left, the card drops to zero and you pay cash for the difference. No need to worry about having a surplus that goes unused.

We thought it was very worth it. It was much easier to have the card on your wrist, than having to get your room key out of your wallet/purse at every booth. You can load it with a credit card or your room key if you have charging privleges.

Thanks for the information! I kept hearing people refer to it in other posts and even in the Celebrations magazine and was wondering what it was all about! Thanks!!!!! I will definitely be getting one! :woohoo:

We got one when we were there this past OCtober. So convenient. We have money left on it and are brining it with us in a few weeks. I made sure the $$$ didn't expire before I left money on it. :goodvibes

No money left on ours...we spent so much on ours we had to reload 4 or 5 times :lmao:.

Where do you get it? Is it something I can do at my resort or do I have to buy it in EPCOT? I am trying to take care of as much of my trip as I can ahead of before DBF has a chance! thanks!

Great Question! I want to know too! I am ready to start packing already and I still have 6 months to go! :rotfl:

It is just like any other Disney gift card. You can use it wherever a Disney gift card can be used, not just at the Food & Wine Festival.

I have only seen the themed festival cards sold at Epcot. These are the only gift cards with a wristband.

It's a small size card that can fit on a elastic wrist band (kind of like the discount cards you use in the grocery stores). Basically, when you get it they can load it with any dollar amount you want.

Then you just put it on your wrist and use it to pay for your purchases. We absolutely loved it, because then we didn't need to constantly pull out the credit card or cash to pay for everything.

Also, your receipts for items you buy will show the remaining balance and you can always add more $ as you go.

The only disadvantage is you can't "unload" the card. So I would recommend starting with a specific amount and then add more if you need or pay in cash after the funds are gone.

They sell them at the gift shops in EPCOT. Not sure about the resorts (doubt it) The stands do take regular credit cards and chargable room keys as well.

Are these mini-gift cards only available during F&W?

Thanks for any help.

Can you buy them with a gift card? I was going to buy gift cards for F&W before we went but this sounds like it would be easier but I would like to have them pre-purchased (so the money is already spent).

The themed gift cards with wristbands are only available during the food & wine festival.

As for whether or not you can use a gift card to purchase a gift card....no idea on that one.

True, but you can use the card like a regular Disney Gift Card at any location in WDW. We've always just used our leftover $ like cash at a gift shop or resort.

They are just a different form of a Disney gift card and you can use it all year round and even for merchandise purchases (and not only in EPCOT). I was able to use it in December and this past February.

You can also take the card to your local Disney store and put money on it. I've been doing this in anticipation of our October trip. YOu can also transfer balances from a regular gift card to this card (did it last October).

It is so much easier to carry around.

Yes, we had to go to a few different places in Epcot before finding them but we love them. Just be careful, 3 out of the 4 we bought broke and my husband lost his with money still left on it...not much but enough to be upset about it.

My husband and I bought the little mini gift cards last year and thought that they were great. We used them at all the theme parks and used up our balances at the Top of the World Lounge for a few beers on our last night at WDW. They were very convenient. We re-loaded them a few times.
