We are planning a trip for DL on April 19-22 and I have read many different things about Food and drink being allowed into the parks. I really would like to bring water and snack for my children but don't want to be asked to throw thwm away at th enterance! So what is allowed into the parks? Thanks

You will be fine to bring snacks & drinks- so long as they're not in glass bottles (who uses those anyway?!;))

You can even bring ready made sandwiches and such if you want to.

Have been there 6 times, and we always bring lots to drink and eat into the park. We always bring in 2 or 3 liters of gatorade, and enough sandwiches for 4 people. I have never been questioned about this. We always eat in the common area between DCA and DL. Never had troubles.

We always bring water and even sometimes snacks, no prob. The only time I've seen them stop people is when they have a big ice chest full of food.

Four words: storebought Starbucks Frappuccino drink

Person in front of us had to guzzle theirs at bag-check and leave the bottle behind. Lucky they hadn't brought extra for the day with them!

We have APs and I usually bring an insulated bag with about 6 extra bottles of water. Then since I don't use a stroller any more, I rent a locker. At $7 per day for the small ones, it's way cheaper than having to buy the water at the park. We also bring snacks in our backpack. Never had a problem.

We brought in 2 bottles of water each (there are 4 of us), some small snacks (muffins, granola bars, bananas & stuff like that). They didn't give us any trouble at all.

The other day I saw a family with pre-made sandwiches (like from a grocery store) and a tub of carrot and celery sticks from the store--eating at a table behind the corn dog cart on Main Street.

DL has certainly gotten more liberal on letting in food--when I was a kid our Girl Scout troop wasn't allowed to bring a sack lunch in! They had to be stored outside and we had to go out to the picnic area to have lunch!

Part of the problem is that they've gotten rid of the picnic spot to the right of the DL entrance and so there's not really a place to have a proper picnic within walking distance, so in order to play fair they've let in more than they used to. Snacks and drinks are no problem because they still try to make DL accessible to those families on a budget.

There's a picnic area over to the left of the entrance. I was just there Jan 26. :) It's definitely hidden though.

We've brought in bottled water, cans of soda, and snacks in ziplocs and never had a problem. I also carry those Cyrstal Lite tubes to flavor water and use those either in our water bottles, or glasses of ice water we get when we eat. I've never even had a CM say anything negative about brining in food or drinks. Many times I carry in a drink (styrofoam cup) from somewhere outside the park since the park cups don't last very long.

Have fun! :goodvibes
