So I wanted to hear from everyone on where their fav counter service places are and why? I also want advice on where to grab a decent cup of morning coffee (i need it to live i tell ya!)??

Thanks so much all... only 2 weeks to go!!!!

Well, I'll pipe in about the coffee. I'm a self-admitted coffee snob and this is just my opinion. :snooty: :coffee:

You won't find a good cup of coffee inside the parks. They only use Nestle's Nescafe and it's just gross no matter how many cream and sugars you put in it. We normally bring our own coffee and grinder and make our own in the hotel room and bring travel mugs in with us in the morning. I have heard that Compass Books at the end of DTD serves Peet's coffee, but have never confirmed this myself.

If you're staying onsite (esp. Disneyland Hotel or Grand California), it's a short walk to Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen counter service section. My favorite breakfast is their warm beignets and coffee (not gourmet or anything but decent)!

I also like their lunch offerings--gumbo, jamabalaya, yum!

I def think I am going to bring my own coffee and disposable cups (theres a coffee maker in our room @ Desert Inn) because "Nesacrap" (as i've heard it referred to a million times and i concur) won't do it for me! Thanks much!!!!

Any more suggestions on counter services?

It's not the coffee makers, it's the coffee beans! Nescacrap (as so eloquently stated above) is awful no matter how good you are at brewing coffee.

I got coffee at the Bookstore in DTD last time I was there and remember it being good-I'm a Pacific NW Coffee Snob myself :)

i have been the chosen one and accepted the mission to find the best coffee at the DLR....I concur that compass bookstore is very good...the rest of them are crap!.....however, if you dine at Riverbelle Terrace, Carnation Cafe or Plaza Inn you can get a good cuppa joe that is NOT nescacaca!!...also the blue ribbon bakery on main street has good coffee albeit a really long line...DLH has really good coffee at the coffee shop next to goofys kitchen...I would have died without them....goofys kitchen, storytellers, and lilo and stitch breakfast serve gooooooooood coffee...if you are staying off property bring your own beans lol...unless you have a starbucks near you....:thumbsup2

All research I have done has indicated that ALL coffee served in DLR (including the restaurants listed above) is Nescafe. They fresh roast the beans every day at the Baker's Field Bakery in DCA (The official name is "Baker's Field Bakery - hosted by Nescafe).:crazy2: Even the Blue Ribbon serves Nescafe. Yes, they will turn it into espresso, doctor it up with syrups and such, but the coffee is crap, and it's impossible to make that crap taste good.

The only exception I have heard of is Compass Bookstore selling Peet's. I'd love to be corrected if I'm wrong. Please DLR give us some GOOD COFFEE!!:coffee:
