Does anyone know what type of oil the fries are cooked in? Better yet, does anyone have an ingredient list? Some fries have soybean oil added, and my son cant have this. Thanks!

WDW uses canola oil for cooking except for a few asian style places that use peanut oil. Most outside fast food restaurants use soybean oil and I cannot eat the fries at McDonalds:sick: . WDW restaurants are supposed to have a dedicated fryer for french fries but you will need to make sure the restaurant knows of the soy allergy and that the fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. I will not eat french fries that are not cooked in a dedicated fryer as the other foods may have gluten or soy in them.

You can contact Brenda.Bennett@disney.com for diet information on soy allegies and having a soy free vacation.

My dietary reference from April 2007 says
Fries - J.R. Simplot Co. Bosie, Idaho - Potatoes, partially hydrogenated vegetable shortening (soybean oil and/or canola oil), maltodextrin, salt, dextrose, disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate and tetrasodum pyrophosphate (to maintain natural color)

Oil for Fries - Bunge - made from partially hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to help protect flavor. Dimethylpolysiloxane, an antifoaming agent, added.

My son has a soy allergy. When we were at Ohana's the chef explained to us that everything they fried that was on the kids menu would have soy in it. He was allowed to eat off the adult menu, but I do know that the menus have changed this year. So, I will find out in Dec when we go.
