I was just wondering if any of you have had any experience with children with food allergies at Disney. My daughter has a severe peanut/ tree nut allergy and were just looking for safe places to eat in Disney World. Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. October Bound!

DS has a peanut allergy and we have traveled to WDW quite a few times since its been discovered. We have found the waiters, and chefs in all restaurants weve eaten at are more than helpful. We usually just mention it to our waiter and they either tell us what is safe/unsafe or they bring the chef out to talk to us. They will also go out of their way to accomodate any special requests DS might have. Luckily DS is not a very adventurous eater so most stuff he would have is safe for him anyway, but we have never had a problem finding out.
Just be sure to ask, and of course, bring the epi pen. Good luck, and enjoy your trip. :D

Thanks for your help. Can't wait to return!

I would also suggest that when you make priority seatings, you have them note the allergy. I contacted WDW last year in regards to my DD's severe milk allergy ( fortunately she out grew it) and they responded that it is possible to get an ingredient list for every item served. I beleive they also suggested contacting the head chef at each park to get an idea of the best options for us. One thing I did find out is that most WDW ice cream stands carry Rice Dream ice cream!!!
If you send WDW an E-Mail directly they will respond to you with your best options for a safe trip.

My 2.5 yr old has a severe peanut/tree nut allergy (and some lesser allergies) and is also a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic. I have called the dining services at the parks and they are WONDERFUL! I've received 2 emails so far with lists of safe foods (and foods to avoid) for the MK and Epcot. I've also gotten the phone numbers for all the PS restaurants and was told to call them about a week before to make any special arrangements. The chefs at the CR where we plan to stay were also very helpful and have offered to give us some plated food (like for lunch - we don't want to have a PS huge lunch AND a huge dinner!) for him. I have been amazed at their level of service all around.

Check out this thread and the phone numbers listed in the 2nd post down - I think this is what I called: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=505698&highlight=+peanut++allergy

Have fun!

Thanks so much for your helpful information. I e-mailed Disney yesterday re: her allergy and I'm just waiting for their response. That thread you gave me was very helpful. I'm feeling a little better already!

Make your priority seating arrangements and be sure to tell them about the allergies when you call. They will either give you the telephone numbers of the chef at each place for you to call direct and discuss the menu, or they will have the restaurant call you. Either way, Disney will do all it can to accommodate special dietary needs. All they need is sufficient time to order what they need. Last year we had a little boy with us who had severe allergies to almost everything! you name it, chicken, eggs, sugar, nuts, certain fruits. But he managed to eat very well at Disney. In fact, we made a last minute decision to eat at the Kona Cafe on our last day, and we asked hesitantly if they could make a Mickey pancake without eggs, and they did. We found the chefs more than happy to discuss his special needs and they offered plenty of suggestions, too.
