I hope this is the right place to ask this question. If not, please redirect me.

How are Universal food vendors and Universal resorts' dining venues(including CityWalk) with food allergies? Do they post food ingredients or happily answer these questions when prompted? Will table service restaurants make special meals?

My youngest DD is allergic to eggs, nuts, and bananas. We have had great experiences at WDW both in the parks and in resort dining with allergy issues. They were all very accommodating with ingredient requests and, in table service, preparing special meals or special plating to avoid cross-contamination.

We are planning our first trip to Universal next spring and I need to know the specifics. TIA:goodvibes

I don't think you'll have any problems with the restaurants at Universal or CityWalk. They have guests will allergies all the time and will accomodate your requests.

We have not eaten at a TS (I would think TS would have better luck) at Universal or IOA, but have not had much success in eating at counter service in either park. We are dealing with several allergies, dairy is one of them. The menus (In my opinion) are very limited and the cross contamination is awful. We usually bring in our own food or wait to eat until we leave the park. In one case, I was told there were no onions (allergy) in the dish and guess what? The whole thing was cooked in onions! I asked in the candy story in Suess landing if they had any candy that was dairy free-and was told "I don't know".

We like the parks, but don't feel it is "safe" for us to eat there.

That's really surprising...I thought Universal had more options other than just trans fat free.

That is surprising.......not to say its not true, I totally believe your story. There are many restaurants even around home here that when I ask if they use peanut oil (DD is deathly allergic to peanuts/tree nuts) they look at me like I have sprouted another head.

That being said......DD has NEVER had a problem with anything she eats at Universal/IOA. Be sure to really make your point about food allergies.....if it doesn't come out correct - send it back and remind the server that you requested that (X) item not be included as you are severely allergic. I know that dining out with food allergies is scary, but it can be done. Especially with a dairy allergy - that is more hidden than nuts these days, right?

If the person you ask does not know - get them to get their manager :confused3 ......There is always SOMEONE who knows.

Good Luck!!

You'll have much better luck with special requests at the table service restaurants than the counter service places. Most of them offer special meals if you call ahead. Here is a link I posted on another thread with restaurant menus and phone numbers.

I know that many baked and fried items contain egg, so again, go for the table service rather than counter service. Have a great trip!

Thanks for all your replies.:goodvibes I will be sure to double check especially at counter service. DD usually ends up eating a really nutricious meal of french fries and chocolate milk when in the parks at WDW so it may be the same at Universal. Oh well, it is vacation.
