Does anyone have any experience with any of these restaurants as far as dealing with food allergies? I know they are not disney operated, but I saw a pdf of some menus and they have a "please let us know if you have food allergies and we will try to accommodate you..." type of statement at the bottom.

Also, the disney website says something along that lines that any restaurant on their reservation system (these restaurants are) can accommodate food allergies. Any feedback on this?

I can’t help you with your Swan/Dolphin question as I haven’t been there before. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer that for you.

There are both Disney-owned and non-Disney-owned restaurants in the reservation system. I can tell you that you will generally find excellent handling of food allergies at any Disney-owned restaurant. The places we’ve run into problems have been some of the non-Disney owned restaurants at Epcot. You can request a list of them from Brenda Bennett (or someone else who handles food allergy questions at WDW), but I am pretty sure it includes Mexico, France, Italy and there may be others. We had hoped to try Mexico, but then I read about other families with FA having terrible experiences there, so we cancelled our reservations. It seems like those restaurants can be hit or miss – they “can accommodate” food allergies but they just don’t hold up to the same standards as most of the Disney restaurants and not everyone comfortable with that level of service.

Thanks so much for your reply, MadiWI. We normally only go to the disney-owned restaurants due to dd's severe peanut/tree nut allergies, but I was excited to see the statement on the menus at Swan/Dolphin. I'm leaning toward sticking with the disney restaurants since there are several nearby, but I might call the restaurants at Swan/Dolphin too and see what they say about their allergy policies.

We had 2 very bad experiences with handling of our son's food allergy (he has milk-protein-induced-enterocolitis syndrome and has to avoid all dairy) at non-Disney owned places: Raglan Road and Pepper Market (at least I believe these places are non-Disney owned). We have had no problem at restaurants that I believe are Disney owned. We actually had no problem at Tutto Italia as well.
