heres EPCOT....
EPCOT

EPCOT – FUTURE WORLD SHOWCASE - , the marker in EPCOT that represents the center of WDW,
EPCOT – FUTURE WORLD SHOWACSE - My DD5 & I found the talking water fountain in EPCOT (on the left side of the big fountain in FW as you are walking toward WS - right near Mousegear). DD took a drink, and the water fountain flushed! DD laughed so hard. Then she took another drink, and it said something else funny.
EPCOT – JAPAN the candy lady
EPCOT - JAPAN The stone lantern in Japan was originally a gift from one of the country's leaders (can't remember specifically - anyone?) to Roy Disney (the younger I believe). It used to be in his backyard until eventually it ended up in Epcot.

EPCOT – JAPAN you can buy an oyster and have the pearl mounted on a piece of jewellery
EPCOT – CANADA - The waterfall by O Canada! in Epcot was put there because the sound of the water masks the fact that there is a huge generator directly behind it. I don't know of any other theme park that goes to such great lengths to make sure the magic is unspoiled for their guests.
EPCOT – WORLD SHOWCASE Finally, forced perspective is used on some of the buildings around the World Showcase in Epcot to make them look bigger/smaller than they actually are. For example, there is a building in Canada that is only 3 stories high, but has 5 rows of windows to make it look taller. The building that the American Adventure is in is really 5 stories, but has tall doors and windows to make it look like it is only 3 stories. It's hard to tell, but have one person go stand by the door to the gift shop, and you'll be able to tell that the opening is about 12 feet high!
EPCOT – SPACESHIP EARTH if you take the queue to the left as you head toward the ride look up in the sky- one of the asteroids is actually a chocolate chip cookie- it's pretty easy to spot! Thanks for the great secrets!
EPCOT – AMERICA - The pictures on the walls of the American Adventure were all painted by various Disney artists. One picture in particular is an optical illusion. The picture hangs in the corner to the left as you first enter the rotunda. It is a picture of a B-17 bomber from back in World War II. In front of the picture is a grey strip of tiles on the floor. If you stand on the gray tiles and walk back and forth, the plane seems to swivel to follow you.
EPCOT – AMERICA - The American Adventure in EPCOT was designed using "forced perspective" (same as the castle in MK) because imagineers discovered that a building from that time period would have been too small to be seen across World Showcase Lagoon.
EPCOT – WS - Norway

has anyone ever noticed the grass (yes it IS real sod) roof on the first building as you enter Norway?
Horticulture CMs get up on that roof and trim the grass with clippers since they don't seem to have a goat to keep up there as they do in Norway.
EPCOT – NORWAY you can go into the stave church
EPCOT – GERMANY the miniature railway
EPCOT – GERMANY you can get dolls custom made at the toy store in Germany.

EPCOT – FRANCE - In the France pavilion in World Showcase, be sure to find Belle's library. If you're searching for Belle and Beast, you're almost sure to walk through, but even if you're not, browse the shops and you'll find yourself there as well. It's a favorite nook of mine because it has that extra special Disney magical touch. There are countless references to classic Disney tales. Shelves are lined with our favorite stories, nicknacks like gargoyles from Hunchback and the rose from Beauty and the Beast are there, and I remember some more obscure Disney references catching my eye as well (though I can't recall them right now). There's also a beautiful stained glass window, just like the mosaics during the prologue of B&tB.
EPCOT – UK the hidden maze at the back of the uk
EPCOT – MOROCCO - When walking through Morocco, take a look at all of the mosaic tile artwork on the walls. You will notice that each mosaic has at least one cracked/flawed tile in it. This is because these mosaics were created by Moroccan artisans in a unique arrangement with the Moroccan gov't and Disney as mentioned before. The Moroccan people worship Allah, and believe that only Allah can create something that is "perfect," so every mosaic was purposely flawed!

EPCOT _ UK The structures in UK are built "upside down" with the larger rooms overhanging the lower ones - why? Because the people were taxed on the square footage of the foundation, so they made the bottom floors small, and the upper ones big.
Epcot - uk There is a section in England where you can look up your family name and get information about it. Names in the book are from ALL countries not just England ancestry. There is a book to look up your name then they will pull up info in their computer and you can see your family crest and family name history - then they have all sorts of things that you can buy like mugs, shirts, plaques, etc
EPCOT – FUTURE WORLD - if you are riding the Land greenhouse boat ride, watch for the lab set upon the right near the end of the ride. There is a bunch of green test tubes in the shape of Mickeys head in the test tube holder on the far right.

EPCOT – TEST TRACK - Test Track vehicles have three onboard computers that have more processing power than the space shuttle.

Thanks again for these!! I can concur with the stuff about France - it's a fab place to spend a bit of time and soak up just what sets Disney apart from others. It's also a great corner of the world to meet up with the Beast without huge crowds.

Wow!

My DS and DD might have enjoyed EPCOT a bit more armed with these gems of knowledge. :goodvibes

Thanks for all these interesting tips - I'll have to plan another trip now!;)

Regards
Rosie

You're very welcome, I've been to WDW twice and DLP once before finding the DIS and I've compiled all these tips from other threads, I know its going to make my next trip in Nov even more exciting and to be able to share these secrets with our newbie friends will ensure everyone appreciates the total magic of Disney, I've also got tips on MGM which I'll post seperately and I'm compiling AK as we speak!

Thanks Carol, you have saved me a lot of time. I had been meaning to do something similar for ages but just hadn't got round to it. Any chance you could finish the others in the next week?!!! :goodvibes

Thanks again,
Ali :wave2:

You're more of a Disney anorak than me Carol :p

Nice work :)

We could have chatted about all things Disney on the plane to St Lucia instead of my car accident and your many careers :rotfl:

Hells, can you imagine the others' faces if all we'd talked about was Disney!!! :goodvibes
