Follow up baby on rides question

Hi I didn't want to hijack the other thread.
We are going in a month and our youngest is going to be 8 months old. We got a new Mclaren stroller with the idea that she could ride or her big bro when he's tired and she can snuggly it.

So here's the question....those of you that have done this with babies, did you just hold them on your lap or wear them in a sling or snuggly?
Also any other tips and ideas from pros would be appreciated. I have been reading lots to get ideas from all of you pros so thank you. Any other help would be great. Thanks

That's hilarious! We just also bought a new MacLaren stroller as well for our ds.
I was wondering , is it too anal of me to lock it up at the area if we are all going on a ride? I don't want someone to steal it when we are on a ride

Cartersmom, the most you are allowed to do is perhaps lock two front or back wheels together. The CMs have to be able to move it around for crowd control issues, so if you lock it to something you're likely to get Security involved.

caygrayloremomma, I wore my then 1.5 year old in a front carry (facing me) in the mei tai on *some* rides (Snow White, that sort of thing) but they usually made me take him out. Others haven't been told to take the kiddo out, but then I read a couple months ago that someone needed to take their babe out of the sling for Peter Pan. Expect anything!

cool- thanks for the ideas. I hear you on the wanting to lock it up Cartersmom- it is not your average umbrella stroller- although given the 55 pound weight limit it was definately worth it. As for the lock up- I can only hope that it will be left alone. I am not shy so we might label it so that I can harass people with the same stroller if mine goes missing. That should be good for a show.

Sounds like being prepared for anything is the way to go. Thanks to all of you I have been doing a lot of prep and organizing now so that we can relax and chill during the trip. Well as relaxed as one can be taking three kids and a hubby (who is also a kid) to Disneyland for the first time.

You might be surprised how many Maclarens you'll see at the parks.

We always park ours "backwards", meaning with the seat facing out instead of handles facing out. Everyone else parks it simply, handles facing out, but to me that just makes it easier for naughty people to steal AND it makes it easier to walk by and snag something from it. When it's seat-out AND the wheels brakes are locked, a person can't casually snag something from underneath (or a pocket on the back if one has a pocket on the back), and if you're brave enough to leave something hanging from the handles, it's harder for a person to get at that, too.

It takes a moment longer to brake the wheels then turn it around, and to get it out, but it feels safer to me.


And don't leave stuff in the stroller; we had something stolen from under our stroller in September, and then in May we absentmindedly left something and walked away, realized it 10-20 minutes later and it was gone, never turned into Lost and Found, so we KNOW that sneaky people are at the parks.

One last thing. Some people recommend putting a diaper in a zip lock bag, and pouring cola over it so the dipe looks "used". Easy to see your stroller in the sea of strollers, and less likely someone will take a stroller with a peed-on dipe hanging from it. We never did that as we used cloth dipes and didn't want to risk the lost of the $17 diaper, but many people swear by it.

People won't steal strollers... They will steal the stuff inside em (cameras souveniers etc...etc...) On our last trip we brought our Bugaboo and I never worried for an instance that someone would steal it while we were on a ride. The stroller made it through the entire Disneyland part of the trip fine. Sadly it didn't have it through the United Airlines baggage successfully. Somehow when we gatechecked the stroller in LAX it was fine. When it arrived in Honolulu it was in 3 pieces with white paint scuffs all over it. DW and I decided that we aren't bringing the expensive $800 strollers on trips anymore and we are renting em from now on! BTW FYI you can't file a claim for damaged baggage if you gait claim it.

Oh NO!!! That really stinks. I didn't know you couldn't file a claim for damaged baggage if you gate check it. Geesh. If you check a stroller or carseat as baggage, you risk it getting lost (we had lost carseats on Christmas Eve once with 3 under age 3!). If you gate check it, you risk not being able to be reimbursed if the airlines dismantle it? No win situation here...

Really? Delta ruined our Peg Perego on a flight home from WDW in Oct 2005. We had gate checked it. We filed a claim right then and they reimbursed us enough to replace the stroller with the same make/model. (Around $300).
Maybe the policy has changed recently? They really throw those strollers and car seats around!
Also, we have brought our Peg Perego, Mac, and our twin Inglesina into the parks many times and have never had a problem with them disappearing.
I would be more concerned about the stuff you leave IN the stroller while on the rides.
As far as the little ones on rides: I just remember that they always made the little ones (even infants sitting on laps) sit face forward. So even if you take a 2 month on a ride (like Peter Pan) be prepared to have them face forward and not be up on your shoulder. I have seen people with the babies in baby carriers - like baby bjorn - but only when the babies are faced forward. Hope that makes sense!

We haven't been in a few months so things may have changed but...When we took DS(9 months) last fall he was 7 weeks old for first trip and 12 weeks old for second trip. He rode numerous rides including Peter Pan, Dumbo, PotC, HHM, and Buzz all in the Snugli while facing me or his dad.
