I normally use HUGE ziplock bags, but recently read on these boards about people using a file type case (or folder thing) that snaps shut. I think you can get like 6-8 shirts in them.

Does anyone have one and where did they purchase it? Also, what size did you find works best and what did you put in it (# of jeans, shorts, etc.)?

I thought about getting one for shirts and one for shorts and jeans.

eaglecreek.com will point you in the right direction for their packing cubes and the pack-it folders. I'm on a short trip to a convention right now and packed 4 days worth of clothes into my carry-on suitcase with room to spare using the pack-it cube and folder. Sure enough, the shirts come out unwrinkled. If I really wanted to, I could slip the shirt folder into my briefcase and get even more room in my suitcase.

They are made by Eagle Creek and if you don't care about color you can get a great deal on them at SierraTradingPost.com. Eagle Creek also has a great website where you can watch a video to see how these things work. I've got both 20" and 18". The larger one is great for pants-maybe depends on your size-I'm not small. I just bought the 15" ones for my kids. I really love these things. You wouldn't believe how much you can fit into your suitcase with these and relatively wrinkle free. I had just 1 large rolling bag and 1 duffle bag for our family of 5 in Jan for 5 nights.

Here's some links but you might want to do a search of Eagle Creek at Sierratradingpost as they've got lots of other neat things too:
20" Pack It

18" Pack-It

15" Pack-It

Sierra Trading Post is having a sale of additional 10% off orders $50-99.99 and 20% off $100+ but only through Sunday.

Thanks so much. That's exactly what I was looking for. Maybe I'll buy the 20" and 18" and see if I need one of each or two.

The Container Store has them (pretty sure they're the Eagle Creek ones) if you have a store in your area.

:p :p

Just noticed your trip date!!!! Boy you really like to plan ahead!!!
I thought I was obsessed..:hyper:

Actually I wanted them for my Knoebels trip August 5th and Wildwood trip September 25th. We go every year, along with other places, and it would be nice for packing.

I just remember reading about them on these forums, but didn't remember where. I wanted to order them soon so I will have them for August trip.

I am obsessed about Disney though. I wish I could start all my planning, but I guess a budget and saving will have to do for now, along with ideas from the forums.

I picked 2008 since my daughter would be a great age to remember our first trip ONSITE. Plus, I'll be back to work by then. Extra $$$$. Have to pick a time for the big WDW trip so I can start a budget and saving. We'll go for 14 nights. I CAN'T and WON'T do any less. DH is a manager so he can't really take off every year or 2 for two weeks at a time. I figured this way, their getting PLENTY notice (hehe).

Thanks for all your help...

this is probably a stupid question but is it only one shirt/pant per cube? or can you put a few in each one? I really appreciate your help!

There's actually both kind.

Go to www.containerstore.com

then travel, then clothing organizers and they have a couple options. Their travel items are actually on sale right now 25% off (not sure if it's in store or not). It is the Eagle Creek brand also. The cubes seem less expensive than the pack-its which seems weird since the cubes 'seem' like they would hold more.

i didn't like the "space bag" type for the suitcase.
i tried it and gave mine away.

what i do now i learned from one of my sons which he learned at basic training.
i tightly roll all my garments and then place them in a plastic bag.
never have problems with wrinkles and actually have more space than when i did before.

The cubes are pretty much just a zippered bag for keeping your sox or undies neatly packaged. There are 2 sided ones so you can keep clean seperate from dirty but the pack-its are much more. They have a folding board so all your clothes are the folded the same size and then because of how you close the thing with the velcro you can close it nice and snug wether you've got a medium size load or a lot.

I am glad I read ahead as that's what we always do. I traveled with drum corps as a high schooler and we were only allowed a duffle that could fit under the seat of a coach bus. Sometimes we traveled for 2-3 weeks at a time with one or no laundry stops. It was easier since we really only needed shorts and t's but rolling works wonders. I now roll all the clothes and use a ziplock for the undies and sox - it compresses well and the TSA dosen't have to "touch"!.

yea, you would be surprised on how much you can pack in a suitcase or a duffle bag (i use both, prefer the duffle bag) it's the only way i go now.
i roll all the clothes then place some of the garments in a big ziploc bag.
this way saves space..................
