In December, I noticed some type of fold up stroller being sold at the gift shop in Epcot and also at the Beach Club gift shop. Does anyone have a picture of this stroller? What is the price? Is it Mickey Themed? And last of all, does it have under seat storage?

Thanks for any help!

I don't know about the price of it (though as I recall they were fairly pricey), but I tried an umbrella stroller in the parsk but it was a small nightmare. Very hard to manuver particularly with a kid that weighs more than 20 lbs. You can rent from Orlando Stroller Rentals or do a length of stay rental with the Disney ones (which in my opinion, though they are pricey, are fantastically easy to push around, even with a 5 yr old kid!).

We bought a Maclaren umbrella stroller (triumph) for our first kid trip and have used it for five years without a wheel failure or any other issues. We paid about $115 for it. It is easy to gate check or check as baggage if you fly and folds small if you drive. In addition to daily use it has gone through several vacations to Disney, beach destinations, Manhattan, other theme parks, and the walking trail around our previous home, which was packed dirt.

If you plan to go a couple of times with stroller users it is way more economical than renting and less hassle than you would think. Super maneuverable and cargo space underneath.

This exactly what we have...we love it! We paid about $100 w/ shipping on ebay....

If it's the one we've seen in the gift shops...red and black umbrella type....not sure of the cost but the same one is sold at BabiesRus for 40 bucks then with coupons 20-30%off......no disney icons on either...

We bought the one sold at Disney (about 3/4 of the way to the airport we realized, to our horror, we left the stroller at home :scared1:)

We got it at the WL gift shop. They also had it at DTD.

We didn't have a rental car, so it was either buy the one they have or rent the Disney one. Renting the Disney one for a week was MUCH more expensive than buying it. It was about $50-$60, I'm not sure exactly.

It is not Disney themed, and I've seen the same stroller in stores here at about the same price. It's an umbrella stroller with red with black trimmings (sorry, no pic off hand).

We still use it, and it is a good quality. Hard to push with one hand, but fine with two hands. No under seat storage, but there is a moderately sized basket in the back of it.

It's very sturdy, we are able to hang his diaper bag over the handles, no problem, despite being fairly heavy, and has taken a beating without any damage.

Thank you. I thought maybe it was a Disney Theme one. I can just buy one at home now.

Now mind you this is for my great niece, age 1. I have been out of the stroller business for quite some time with my own kids. But I HAVE to know....are the Maclaren's REALLY that much better than say a 50-60.00 price one. I can appreciate "labels" as much as the next high class momma, (lol, kidding!) but is it more than the brand with those? I'd splurge on my great niece if it's worth it!

The short answer? Yes.

I posted early I had a Maclarean and YES they are worth I stroller shopped for about 6 mo prior to getting it we had a stoller that we loved before but it broke so we needed another one for our trip last year....Well worth the $$ I stated I got mine off ebay so it was cheaper than in stores.

It's the Maclarean triumph has a storage basket underneath, reclines(not full but very comfotable for my dd) lightweight and EASY to fold, also has a strap for carrying on the buses my dd is pink and brown....also very easy to push even for my dh who is 6'2

I bought the stroller you are talking about on my trip in Dec and spent the week pushing my 6 yr old around in it. It was $49 plus tax (just over $50)
No basket underneath but a bag that hangs off the back to put stuff in.

This is a pic of the back of it

I liked it and it was cheaper than renting a Disney one for the week

YES, YES AND YES!!!!!!!!!
The Macs are so much better than cheap umbrellas. I have a Volo that I used for dd until she was 7 (they have a 55 pound weight limit) and a Quest that dd3 uses. We hung onto the volo after we got the Quest(this one reclines, volo doesnt)...they are so great. They push with one hand, turn on a dime--even fully loaded, and have TALL handles...nice for my 6'2" hubby. They are tippy if you hang too much from them and take the kid out first so remember to remove bags before kid:thumbsup2 Check www.albeebaby.com that is where I got both of mine...previous yr model for cheaper price.

Which of the 2 Maclaren strollers do you think is taller/more comfortable for your husband to push? I'm 6'7" and have been looking everywhere for an umbrella stroller that doesn't make me hunch over & kick the back of it when I push it. I'm really surprised that there isn't someone who makes a product for taller folks.

As for deciding between the Mac and the red and black one (Kolcraft), I think it depends on your needs... are u planning to only use the stroller for 1 or 2 trips, or do you plan to use it until the child is 5 or 6 y/o? For 1 or 2 trips, I would go with the cheaper Kolcraft.

I have used both... the advantage to the Mac is that it's a bit wider, has a higher seatback, has a higher weight limit, and the sun cover is a bit better. but it's more expensive.

I used 2 kolcraft ones like the ones sold at WDW, for 5 WDW trips (my twins were 2 1/2 y/o the first trip, and one of them was 5 for the last trip he used it). The only reason I bought a Mac is because one twin is bigger than the other, and by age 5, I felt the kolcraft was not quite large enough for him (he's 90th percentile for height). The kolcraft strollers were great for every trip, never had trouble with the wheels, and no problems pushing them. I am 5'4" and dh is 6'1"...the handles extend a bit longer than the cheaper $20 umbrella strollers, so neither of us ever felt we were bending over too far to push. The ones I bought also came with a cup holder (I don't think the ones at WDW have the cup holder), and I paid $40 for it - got it online somewhere before we went to WDW.

ETA: looking at the picture the previous poster included, it looks like the ones sold at wdw DO have that cup holder as well. Also - you might want to tie a scarf or other colorful item to one of the handles just to make it really easy to spot whenever you need to find it in the mass group of strollers parked at WDW (do this if you buy the Mac, too...as there are many Macs at wdw as well). I used to tie a bright yellow Mardi Gras ribbon to ours...very easy to identify that!

Sorry to disagree. I bought Maclaren Triumph for our Oct 10 trip. Two days in and the front right wheel bent. I was pushing ds (22lbs) up a small wheelchair/stroller ramp and it made a loud popping noise and wobbled the rest of the trip. I was so glad I had brought 3 strollers (dd is special needs and depending on her ability that day we chose her stroller) and ds could use dd's umbrella stroller.
We got home and I contacted Maclaren. They told me the only thing they could do was to have ME ship the stroller to their repair facility in NY at my cost and they would repair it and return it within 4-6 weeks. I had the stroller less than 30 days so I took it back to Babies R Us. They exchanged it and defected it. I sold the brand new one on Craigslist for $70 and considered myself lucky.
Maclaren has horrible customer service and I am so not impressed with their product. I'll stick with Britax strollers and be thankful Baby Jogger makes a special needs stroller.

No. It's kind of insane what they've done to strollers. It's like cars - these new moms know the brands and models and all that crap. Of STROLLERS!

You will frequently hear (or see on the boards) people mentioning their particular brand of stroller for absolutely no reason at all.

Q: Do you bring a stroller to Disney?
A: Oh, yes. I bring my Maclaren Doodoobop. I love that stroller, blah, blah, blah.

I actually knew a girl who didn't have much money and had no clue how she'd ever pay for college going out and getting an expensive stroller because she just had to have that kind. :faint:

I got a Jeep one. I don't know what it was called, but it was a jogger and I ran that thing hard and flung it into the truck. Dragged it through mud and sand. Left it out in the rain. Worked fine for baby and through toddler and then gave it away...going on five years, it still works fine. Never worried about taking care of it or mistreating it, because it was so cheap that it would be easily replaced. And it had nice high handlebars, which I liked because I'm tall.

You can get whatever it is you want for less than the Luxury Line Strollers. ::yes::

You can also get a stroller equal to the umbrella one WDW sells at any drugstore or Wal-Mart near Disney...for half the cost.

I dont recall their being a difference in the height handle. I think they are the same. The Volo doesnt have a recline and is the basic model. The Quest and Triumph both recline, but the Quest has maybe 3 recline positions, and the Triump only one. I know they make stroller handle extensions, but I dont know how good they work. I just really love my Macs and have never had a problem like the pp mentioned.

I have to completely disagree here. True you can not just go by brand name when looking for a good stroller but there are definite differences in quality from stroller to stroller. Now if you are someone who won't use a stroller much and will only use it indoors or on smooth level terrain maybe it does not matter so much. I frequently travel into NYC by myself with my children so it was imperative for me to have a stroller that was lightweight, easy to push, sturdy, could handle a high weight limit, folded easily and had a carry starp and a decent basket. For that reason I purchased a Macalaren Volo after trying out many strollers. I waited until I found it on sale and used a coupon so the price was not too bad and to me TOTALLY worth it. It had nothing to do with the "brand name" and EVERYTHING to do with how the stroller performed.

If you have ever tried to push a heavier child in some strollers it is not a pleasant experience! Best bet is to go to a store and try your child out in a variety of strollers and see what you like best.

Buying strollers is just like buying a lot of other things, you get what you pay for. Yeah, I don't agree with someone buying an expensive stroller if they cannot pay for college, but I'd imagine that was merely a symptom of a larger problem. Since I was raised to be a capitalist, I'll say that if a person has X amount of disposable income to buy an expensive stroller, then more power to them. Personally, as I mentioned earlier, I would pay a kings ransom to find one tall enough that it doesnt give me a hunchback when I'm pushing it.

I completely disagree. I originally bought a cheap umbrella stroller at WalMart, thinking they were all the same. They are NOT. The wheels were cheap and didn't roll as well, making it harder to push, the handles were much lower, causing me back pain after pushing them (poor dh really had a difficult time at over 6' tall), and the weight limit was so low that I would have had to buy another one within the year (the width of the umbrella stroller was also smaller than the ones I purchased later).

While I would not purchase a stroller only because of the brand name, there IS a big difference between the cheapest variety and the others. That doesn't mean you have to buy the most expensive model - it means you need to look around a bit, try them out, and find which works best for your own needs. Personally, I recommend that people check the weight requirements, handle length, weight of the stroller itself, type of wheels (some front wheels don't move 180 degrees making it harder to maneuver), and width of the seat before making a purchase, especially if it's a stroller they plan to use for a few years.
