Dear Angela,

We are contacting you with an update related to your sailing today.

Earlier this morning, the port of Galveston, Texas, was experiencing heavy fog and the channel between the terminal and the Gulf of Mexico was closed to all inbound and outbound vessel traffic.

The port has reopened and the Disney Wonder is in the process of docking. Once the onboard Guests have disembarked, boarding for today's sailing will begin.

As a result of this weather delay, Guests should postpone their arrival to the terminal building by at least five (5) hours after their selected port arrival time, but no later than 7:00 p.m. today.

We know you were expecting to enjoy lunch onboard today. We are issuing each Guest a shipboard credit of $25 per person so that you may eat lunch prior to your arrival to the port area.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this unexpected delay and look forward to welcoming you onboard later today.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew
Disney Cruise Line

Just got this message!

I just read on Scott's Blog, that they are asking guests to delay their PAT 5 hours but not later than 7pm..... Crazy.
$25 per person stateroom credit, while I know they don't have to do that, these people are missing the entire day. I know I pay way more than $25 per day on these cruises, Just Sayin.
You're paying for a 7 NIGHT cruise. You're not paying for days. Since the onboard time is technically 3:45 (for the most part), they're not really missing anything they've paid for. Yet.

Getting the $25 OBC is DCL's way of helping with an unexpected cost (lunch) for those delayed getting onboard.

Most people are onboard way before 3:45, so 7pm is more than half the day. If I divide my cruise by DAYS, that first DAY is the same price as all the other DAYS, and I think these people getting onboard as late as 7pm is a day gone.
There vacation is starting very late IMO.
Many times when DCL offers specials, they list them as price per day.
However, I choose to decide my price for my cruise is how I decide, so If I want to think of it per day, I can.

Your opinion is just that, your opinion and mine is mine.

EXCEPT ... you should read the fine print in your 'contract'

technically DCL is not required to move the ship ... or take you anywhere ... and you agreed to it.

Oh trust me I know that, I have taken 13 of them.

They did not offer us the $25 credit for our dec 23rd sailing! It stunk waiting and waiting outside the terminal from 9:30 am... but once on the boat and getting passed first seating that did feel rushed we were good to go and all was forgotten!!

When did they start letting people on the ship for your Dec 23rd cruise?

I was on the Wonder yesterday and felt so bad for those waiting to begin their cruise. For us on board it was pretty pleasant. They really did their best to make us happy and allow us to use for cabins for most of the time that we were waiting. I hope they are enjoying their sea day now while I head back to reality and future cruise planning!
