FoF Parade FP+ - What am I missing?

I don't usually feel clueless when dealing with WDW, but this one has me stumped. What is the big draw for these FP? I would have never even considered needing a FP for a daytime parade. I understand MSEP, but what am I missing here? Our last trip was before this parade started (Dec 2013) so I feel a little out of the loop!

It is a less crowded area and can be nice to have a "guaranteed" spot to watch the parade from.

I've tried it out and it's not necessarily better than any other spot, but it was the least crowded of all the places I have watched the parade which was really nice. If it seems like it's hard to get, it's because it is a fairly small area so the number of people that can get a pass is a small percentage of everyone in the park

For our family we're spending 4 days at MK so I used a FP for each of the parades and the fireworks. I'm sure I don't "need" them but I'm traveling with a group of ten, including very small children, so this alleviates any stress about us all finding a spot together. My father was/is one of those freaks who would want to find a parade spot HOURS before the parades. Now he knows we have a spot and it is one less thing for our large group to bicker over.

I agree with you. I stayed up until midnight and booked our FoF fastpass because it seemed to be THE thing to do.

Our first day at MK, we got a great spot for the parade about 30 minutes before it started. We were in a shady area and were able to just sit and relax - much better than standing in a queue for 30 minutes. We decided to cancel our FoF fastpass we had for our next MK day and get one for Town Square Mickey instead. His waits were frequently 45 -60 minutes when we were there. That was a much better use of a FP than the parade FP.
