I'm getting lost in all the threads about new rules since last week. Anything I need to be aware of that might have changed? I was planning to have a small bag with books and toys and of course a blanket and my nephews favorite mickey so he'll hopefully sleep. Is any of this going to be a problem? He'll be in my lap if that makes any difference. TIA!

Thanks, we're flying Southwest and I looked around on their website and never saw anything about restrictions on lap items, not being out of seat for last hour, etc. We're flying within the U.S. though, so I think from reading around the new rules don't apply, but I don't want to get to the airport and be surprised!

So far, all the new restirctions seem to be limited to international flights. You should be fine.

Other than possible strict enforcement of EXISTING TSA rules, the current new directives aimed at flights inbound to the US from international locations are set to expire tomorrow (12/30). If you are not flying until next week, you should check again as you get closer to your travel date to see how everything shakes out and then try to check again before your return flight.

Have a great trip -- Suzanne
