For this next trip, we are getting him wheelchair help through the airport, but I will push rollator myself. We don't plan to hold up the wheelchair person waiting to push him onto the plane. He will use the rollator.

The wheelchair pusher will bring your husband in the chair to the gate area and then leave him and the chair. An airline person or other pusher will come and push him in the chair to the door of the airplane. When I check my luggage I also check my rollator and the airline gets me a wheelchair at that point. When I get off the plane a pusher with a wheelchair brings me to the baggage claim and gets my luggage and rollator and takes me and my luggage and rollator to where I am meeting my ground transportation. In Orlando, the often leave me in the chair with my stuff and tell me that when my ride arrive to just leave the wheelchair sitting there.

ummm what does one do for a late min bathroom break before boarding plane? I could push him over to a rest room, is that allowed? We usually just have a backpack and a gym bag as carry ons, so no issue dragging everything with us.

if using a rollator I would not try to push it with him seated in even to a bathroom. not sure how many family/handicapped restrooms where you could go with him so he would most likely have to go in by him self

I wouldn't try to move my DH on a rollator. Although once when we went to vote and the line was really really lone, he sat and tap tap tap along as we moved a foot ever two mins.[/QUOTE]

You can definitely push him to the bathroom. Many airports even have companion restrooms (sometimes called family restrooms) and you can go in with him or it is just a few steps from the door to the facilities. And there will be grab bars. When I travel with family, someone always takes me for that last stop before boarding the plane.

Depending on the type of chair the airport might be using, it may feel odd to push but many of the different shaped ones are actually really easy to push.
