Hiya

Ok

as many of you know Im pregnant lol, we cancelled our September wdw trip with no problems.

But we have a trip booked for Christmas day, and we were wondering if its doable with a newborn, we were going to a villa and not doing the parks.

expected due date is between the 10th and 20th of November for baby right now I will know for sure in three weeks. so when we fly baby will be between 5 and 7 weeks old

has anybody any experiance of travelling with an infant this young and is it safe.

thanks for any advice

anna

I have'nt flown with a newborn and personally would'nt for many reasons-but that's just my opinion.I am sure many have who will be able to give you there advice.
What i really wanted to say was-Love the ticker/wording:lmao: .x.

Hi - Congratulations!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

I can't answer the question on whether its a good idea or not (I'm taking a nine month old in May and am wondering the same thing myself!!!;) - although the things i'm worried about are mainly to do with formula and food so I guess a newborn will not need the food bit and if you're breastfeeding you have the other sorted too!!:rotfl: )

But I can't see why its not safe - the airlines wouldn't let you fly at that age if it wasn't:confused3 :confused3

My only concern would be your own recovery - as if you happened to need a c-section then I doubt you would be ready for travelling that soon??:confused3

Flew when our youngest was 3 months and was very undecided about it at the time but had no problems and this was our fourth child. Personally would not consider it with a six week old first born. Best wishes to you.

I wouldn't personally travel long-haul until the baby's immunizations had started and I'd had my post-natal check up - I would worry about infections and everything being OK health-wise...

Plus I don't think I would've felt like sitting cramped on a plane for 8+ hours 5 weeks after giving birth...

As another poster said Anna, I don't think I could have done that trip after my c section, and unfortunatley you can't plan for how childbirth is going to go. I would wait until your baby is a bit older before flying with him / her.

Congratulations by the way!! :)

Congratulations Mushu, I'm the one who wondered about going at 5 months pregnant! I don't think I would take a newborn, but as this one is also my first I wouldn't really know what to expect. Just noticed you are due around the same time as me - are you going into Pinderfields, Pontefract or Dewsbury? I will be in Dewsbury, would be funny if our babies were born on the same day.

Hi Anna

Congrats! Personally I wouldn't - but thats just my opinion. I think we're all different though.

I wouldn't want to be cooped up on the plane with a newborn - also I had an emergency c-section so I wouldn't have been keen to fly.

Until you have the little one you won't really know if flying is an option or not, but thats leaving it a little too late!

Sam x

hiya

I am swinging the way of trying to put off traveling till the babys nearly one I think, at least then I will have got over the shock lol

plus my family are going 2010 and it would be nice to have help around

Personally, its hard with an 18 year old and a 20 year old !!

I would not go save the money, and go again when the kid maybe 3 or 4 and then at least you can go to the parks.

To go to Florida and not go to the parks would drive me crazy.

I'm from the same school of thought as Karen.
I wouldn't go pre-immunisations and I DID end up have two emergency C-sections and although I was quite mobile after five weeks and I was driving I wouldn't have chosen a trip to Florida for me or my newborn.
If you fancy a warm holiday (as you mention you didn't intend to visit the parks) go somewhere short haul for a week.
I personally wouldn't enjoy a holiday to Florida without visiting the parks or if I was still waking frequently for night feeds.
I'd go end of 09 or 2010 if I were you.

No one has mentioned that the baby will probably take up all joint luggage allowance! I'd hang on until the baby was a little older, you are just too impatient to get back aren't you!!!!!!!

Great idea, Anna! :thumbsup2 It would be lovely to share the baby's first WDW trip with the family... :cloud9:

You also need to bear in mind that due dates (even after a dating scan) can be very unreliable. It's not at all unusual to be 2 weeks after the due date. If that happened to you then you might be faced with flying with an even younger baby.

Is this your first? I have to admit that I was still recovering from giving birth at that stage especially the first time round. If you just gave yourself another month or two you'd probably find you'd enjoy it a whole lot more.

Firstly congratulations!

Personnally I'd not want to travel so soon after especially as due dates can be sketchy at best (by my 2nd scan mine had changed by 12 days) and you could always go overdue by 2 weeks. Also as others have said births don't always go to plan - my first ended in a c-section which has a fair recovery time in itself.

The first few weeks with a new baby can be hard whilst sleeping and feeding are established and I wouldn't want to add a long haul flight to the mix.

Disney will still be there next year :goodvibes

Anna, It really wouldnt be a good idea to take the baby at that age, for many reasons, you yourself will still be still recovering from the birth. He/she wouldnt of had all his jabs, it would be far better to go when the baby is older, this way you will be able to relax more and enjoy the holiday as if you go in Nov it will be one hell of a struggle juggling a new born and a holiday in one go!

Congratulations :goodvibes , personally I wouldn't go, just think of their little ears, my DD's complain about their's hurting when we fly and they're 9 & 7. Wait until your little one's a bit older and then enjoy the magic :cutie:

me personally i wouldnt take a baby that young .......i found it very hard taking our 1 yr in 06 what with the change of milk .......i wished id kept her on formula till we came back
imagine if you ran out of baby formula before you came back home .i dont think the US do the same formula as us so you would be upseting babys tummy if you had to change it over

But congratulations to you on the forthcoming baby
