Having had a change of plan, (it's better for us to go away in September rather than November from a work perspective,) I can't help but notice the cracking prices coming from Monarch. The difference in price is £400+ for 2 return flights compared with Virgin from Gatwick and Manchester, for this I am willing to sacrifice the convenience of flying to MCO and going into Sanford instead.

Having not flown with Monarch before, I was wondering if anyone could give me any idea what they are like? I don't want to book them and have the worst flight ever.

Also any idea what Sanford is like? I've been through there before but it is well over 12-14 years since, when it was fairly new, and I can't remember what it was like.

We really like Sanford and prefer it to Orlando international, we have been through both twice.

Although Sanford is further travelling distance you can easily make this time back because of the quicker processing in the airport. Both times we went through Sanford it took about 30 mins less to get through immigration and customs than with MCO.

I have never personally flown with Monarch, I haven't heard many good things said about them but a £400 saving is def worth considering.:)

Flying with them in June so will give you a report - big savings to be had however.

I flew with them once in 1999 ... swore I'd never do it again, it was the attitude of the crew to be honest - (and an awful delay on the way out).

Sure things must have changed by now - I'd hope so anyway!

Hi, we flew with monarch last year, after reading all the negative reviews and comments we totally expected the worst and it was absolutely fine, flights on time both ways, worst is, not quite so much legroom and the tv screens are overhead (last year watched films on a psp and this year using an iPad), for the price diff with virgin I think it's worth it and are going with them again this month, plus the actual hol is the main bit! :yay:

i've only flown with monarch once a few years back when i went to mexico. i found myself feeling a little bit short on space and the inflight entertainment was broken on the way back! long haul flight with no entertainment is not fun lol. I wouldn't personally be too keen on flying with them again but the cheap rates are definitely worth considering to get you to the magic!
