Flying with frozen meals?

I have a large soft sided thermo carry-on type bag and was thinking of making frozen meals ahead of time to use during our DVC stay. Has anyone ever brought frozen meals in a carry-on? Is it allowed? Or, has anyone packed frozen items and checked them through to Orlando?

I have never flown with one...but I am certainly gulity of bring other food, and I see people carrying on all sorts of stuff. If it is Frozen Food that has a liguid or gel nature-aka sauce/gravy...I would pray that it remains that way until you clear security. If you pack a soft cooler with ice packs, I would make sure they are the type that are very slow to defrost...I can easilly see how you might have to pitch these if they are slightly defrosted-hence liquid/gel state. You could also call your local airport and ask for assistance on this matter. IMO it would be way easier to just pick a frozen meal up at the store in the DVC Hotel...

Wouldn't matter what type they are; ice packs are only allowed through security when used for cooling insulin and similar medications.

You can take frozen food if it is food that would be in a solid state when defrosted, which would mean no chili, soup, casseroles with a lot of liquid, etc. The food itself would be the only ice allowed, so your best best is to freeze them for several days in a deep freeze and pack towels around the outside perimeter of the bag to double-insulate it. Prepare for very careful scrutiny at the checkpoint; that stuff is hard to see through.

I *really* wouldn't check frozen food, bad idea, especially in Florida heat. If the bag went astray it would probably all thaw and rot before the bag caught up to you.
