Flying with Britannia

Does anyone know what facilities they have on board - back of seat screens, kiddie bags and so on?

No back of seat screens unfortunately and when I went to WDW last oct with them they didn't give out kids goodie bags or anything but when I went to barabados with them last month they gave my son a backpack with a few games/puzzle books etc the food was ok nothing special but the snacks and drinks etc on board were way overpriced (only to be expected i guess) so stock up before you get on board!

As far as I know, there isn't much in the way of entertainment- no seat-back screens anyway. We toyed with the idea of taking a portable DVD player with us (as we were thinking of buying one anyway) but we're re-thinking after finding out they only have a couple of hours playback time. I'm taking a good book and some good company- maybe a couple of games. For the money I saved on the flight I am not complaining too much about the lack of luxuries but I admit I wish we were getting the seat back screens!

As Carolfoy said, I'm expecting the snacks to be expensive- we've pre-booked meals but will be taking snacks and water with us!

We have just returned from flying with Brittania. We found them to be fine. There were no seat back tvs but we could easily see a screen. The headsets were £3 but any standard fit headphone fits. The meals were okay, 2 provided and there was water available from a dispenser at all times. We would certainly fly with them again. We read, played games, watched the movie and our son used his gameboy, the time soon passed. Hope this helps

Calyuk we are flying with Britannia and after reading some of the comments on them I am slightly dreading it. Can you tell me did you pay for the upgrade of seats and if not how did you find the leg room?

We bought a portable DVD player last Christmas and took it on our recent holiday to Orlando in March.
The battery lasted 4 hours, we also had a spare.
We bought it because our boy is Autistic and wanted something to keep him occupied on the long flight, even though we fly with Virgin there generally isn't anything available to entertain him.

i am flying with brittania 28th may we upgraded for £169 each,you get seat back tv and more leg room etc,would be interested if anyone has upgraded before,the reason i upgraded is myself and my wife are going on our first holiday without the kids and also i am 6ft 3in

cazzie, we did not upgrade our seats but found the legroom okay. I am only5'4 and my Dh is 5'8 so neither of us are that tall. The upgraded seats were roomier but personally I would rather spend the money on other things. There was only a small number of upgraded seats on our flight. Hope this helps.

Cazzie - they won't let you upgrade if you are going with children on Britannia - the reasoning being the extra legroom seats are by the emergency exits and they expect the people who sit there to help out in the event of an emergency - obviously you won't do this if you have your children with you.

You can't upgrade to the extra legroom seats by the emergency exits with children, but children can (or could do when our DDs were young enough to be classed as children!) upgrade to their 'Premium' seats (not available on every flight, I don't think) and sometimes to the centre bulkhead seats which also have extra legroom.

The same ruling applies to adults who aren't deemed to be physically fit and able. That's why the emergency exit seats are allocated only at check-in, so the staff can assess whether they think those wanting the seats will be capable of helping out in an emergency.

I spoke to Britannia a few days ago and we couldn't upgrade going out because they don't have the premium seats on the plane and as for coming home they were reserved for Thomson passengers (we are going we Thomas Cook)

Just got back from Orlando and flew with Britannia. I must praise them in every way. The experience was a lot better than TCD.

TV screens were every few feet located on the ceiling of the plane and easy to see. There were shows like Fools and Horses, my hero, my family, little britain etc and films shown non stop.

The food was typical airline food but better than I have had in the past.
There was room for me to stretch my legs out fully under the seat in front.

I would fly with them again.
