Flying Virgin MAN - MCO, which seats?

There are 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids, flying VS MAN - MCO and return in July. We are in economy.

I gather that VS uses a 747-200 on this route and I have found a seating plan at http://www.uk-air.net/va747.htm Question is which seats?

To me the 3 and 2 seat combo immediately behind the emergency exit at the rearmost galley look pretty good, but I assume that they will not allow kids in these seats as they can't open the emergency exits?

Possible alternatives are the 4 seats immediately behind the rearmost galley, with an aisle seat across, but these might be out as they are bulkhead seats.

Can anyone suggest alternatives and, even better, actual seat numbers? The seats can be booked from 5 Jan I gather, which is 180 days before the outward journey?

Yes, ours could be booked 180 days out.

A couple of things we learned when booking.

1. Ring exactly on that day. We missed the date by 48 hours and were already 6 rows back from where we wanted to be.

2. Only some seats are pre-bookable. I think they said 60%. The others are kept back so choose a few options and hopefully you will hit jackpot with your first choice.

Many thanks Keswick....I shall certainly phone on Monday, 180 days before our outbound flight.

I poster a similar question in the Flyer Talk forums and, for those interested in the answer look in Virgin Flyer for seat ratings and other useful info re VS.

I'll go look because I just can't resist. We have only 9 weeks to go so its a bit late for us to start making changes.

Going out we have 'excellent' rated seats. Coming back we actually have unrated ones but behind us they are all poor! I suspect its because of the toilets. We asked for seats far enough forward to be able to get to them easily (two nippers) but far enough away to avoid the after-meals queues beside us. Hopefully I calculated that accurately! At least coming home is a night flight and people are a bit less inclined to go walkabouts.

Great site! Thanks for the link.
